Help Kid One have a Beary Merry Christmas!

Last year, KOPS was told that Kid One would have to discontinue their traditional Christmas gift program for the children of Kid One because of budget restraints.  We took this issue to the Soul Patrol and WOW, did you all come through!  KOPS was looking for Beanie Babies to send to Kid One so as many children as possible could have a fuzzy new friend for Christmas.  Over 1000 Beanie Babies arrived for their special day in Alabama!  The notes from the Soul Patrol of how moms and kids went shopping for just the right Beanie Baby to send were wonderful.  The true meaning of Christmas and giving from the heart was alive and well.

We’re asking the Soul Patrol to do it again!  Let’s help these adorable children celebrate this time of year by sending them our well wishes.  The thought of a child receiving an adorable critter before they go into their doctor’s appointment is very heartwarming.  This is a new buddy to help them through the appointment and then stay by their side as they head on home!  There are several ways to send in Beanie Babies (BB’s).   We have found a company that sells them in large numbers which allows for friends to go in together on a batch making the purchase price VERY reasonable.  You can also look through your own collection and send in BB’s you’re ready to part with, please make sure they are clean and free from animal hair, smoke or mildew.  We had one Soul Patroller that searched eBay and found some great deals on them too.  (Thanks CL!)  And as always, visit your local stores and find  brand new Babies to send in for these special children. This is a great activity to do with your own kids - and a good lesson in giving to those less fortunate than ourselves.  It would be great to beat last year’s record!  Last year Kid One had 15,000 children in their program and with the BB’s that arrived in 2006, December was covered.  Let’s see if we can stretch it out to reach more children this year!  Please have your Babies delivered to Karen by November 17th.

Taylor graciously autographed a Retired, 2005 Signature Mother and Child Bear Beanie Baby and KOPS is offering it in a drawing for anyone that participates in this project.  They are an adorable pair and a perfect symbol of caring for our children and it only seems fitting that someone who cares enough to give to the kids should have the chance to own these cuties.  We’ll have the drawing for the Beanie Baby on November 28th.

This one I should be able to contribute to. They are all in storage and in very good condition. I'll see what I can do.
I'll keep an eye out for them too-this one is an easy one Huggy
Taylor & I have some that we can send too! Smile
OMG! I collected these when my son was small, I have a few hundred packed away somewhere in the garage! I'm sure I can send a few!

Huggy Gina
Gina - At least you had a son that was small when you were collecting. I just did it because I had this obsession with them - - - huh, guess I have a pattern forming. Haha
Question...do they have to be "Beanie Babies" or can they be similiar ones such as Huggable Honeys? I have some that are that type of plush animal, but not necessarily beanies from Ty.
Last year my girls and I went to our local craft store which sells Beanie Babies and I let them pick out several to send to the Kid One kids....they enjoyed doing it and it was an important lesson in giving that they could relate to.
It was very heartwarming to see pics of the AL kids holding their Beanies in the Kid One vans! Huggy For those who had medical appointments in December, it was a sweet surprise from the Kid One driver who picked them up! Smile

Karen, I'll be in touch!
I wouldn't think it would matter what kind, a cute little stuffed animal that looks like beanies I bet they would love!
Let me see what I can do! Smile
I know that I have a bunch that do not get enough attention from me any more... Sad
