Not sure why they didn't stop the game for a while to let the bugs go away, Kenny Lofton from Cleveland was on base and had to come off to have his eyes flushed by the trainer, he had bugs in them! It really wasn't fair to make them pitch or even bat through that it was aweful.
The bug thing was kinda gross, but also kinda funny. I guess God is not a Yankees fan this year....
I heard that the bug spray tends to be an attractant for these bugs, not a deterrent. So the more they used, the worse it got for the players.
Yeah I heard the same thing and they were spraying it like crazy! It was sad for the pitcher, he's got a 0.38 ERA and threw 2 wild pitches in that inning. The umpire called it a minor distraction! Would have loved to see him try to pitch 100 MPH with bugs in his mouth!
Well my Yankees are done and sadly I'm not upset!
They had the worst start with horrible pitching and finished 2 games back and clinched the Wild Card! Not bad considering they were 14 games out! They had the best record the second half of the season!
They did great as far as I'm concerned. Too bad Joe Torre will probably lose his job over it. He's given them 4 Rings since he took over!

I do agree that to fire Joe Torre seems a bit harsh. Old George will probably eat those words and not do it...but we'll see.

Yes the Yankees did pull themselves up from their dismal first half, and it would be a shame if Joe Torre was fired after that accomplishment. You have to admit, as the comment was made on my radio station this morning, he's had quite a long career by Steinbrenner standards!
Have to say that I am celebrating this morning that the Yankees lost. But I do agree that this should not all come down on Torre. If I was Torre, I think I would just quit, it seems that everytime Steinbrenner gets his panties in a bunch he threatens to fire him. Torre is too good a manager to have to put up with that kind of bulls**t all the time. He can easily have his pick of where to go next.

George is a crusty old fart and always has been. I really think he's got the beginnings of Alzheimers. His health is not good. He should have kept his big mouth shut on those issues until after all was done. Joe is the best manager the Yankees have had, he's brought us 4 Championships. Not to many other managers if any can say that.
I wish we were playing Boston, we kicked there butts this year! LOL
