Liz, you do need a vacation if it's been that long!

Just remember to get a quart size zip lok bag, and all your carry on liquids have to be in travel size containers and go in the zip lok bag. LIquids in your checked baggage do not have to be travel size, or go in zip lok bags (though it might be a good idea to prevent leakage).

When you go through security, you put all your possessions, including jackets and shoes, in these plastic bins to go through the x ray. The zip lok bags comes out of your carry on and into one of the bins. Sandals or slip on shoes are recommended for easy on and off.

Once you go through security you can purchase items including bottled water and soda to carry on the plane.

I've come to figure out that I don't really need any liquid carry-ons. I usually just pack it all in my suitcase, in something secure, and it arrives safely. I don't take aerosol cans though. I guess a couple of small liquid items would be a good carry-on idea if you are worried that your luggage will be late in arriving. But as long as there is a grocery or drug store nearby I would be fine.

Brown bag clean underware and toothbrush.Thats how I pack....but now IF I was going to this friggin little trip I'd have way more with me such as, tight ass pants,teeth whitening gel,good smelling shit for the arm pits,ass jacking high heels,harp in my left side bra (just in case) ummm what else oh and a great bid mother of a tattoo that just screams out SOUL PATROL stamped across my forehead. Just in case I would run into him face to face now .....don't ya just think he'd think I was HOT........... But in all seriousness I really hope you girls have a blast take lots of pictures,take notes,get a buzz on just a little one and just soak it all in.

Adding to Margaux's note above. Tom and I managed to do carry on for both on our trip. Saves so much time ! If you do not want any hassle, make SURE you have quart bags.. with those really chunky zippers. And the container must be 3 oz or less. You cannot have 3 oz of shampoo in a 6 oz. bottle !! And the items must fit in the qt. bag so they lay flat and can be seen all at once. OR: My son-in-law travels a lot and does not take much- can get by with hotel shampoo, etc. What he does need, he will make one stop at the store upon arrival, buys enough for the trip and then leaves it when he heads home.

I do want Aging Hippie to know that while on my Arizona trip, I thoroughly enjoyed my shampoo from the Wrentham Hawthorne Suites. AH reminded us that when there are extra hotel toiletries that we don't plan to use, they can be donated to women's and homeless shelters. Since I was travelling soon, I made a claim to the shampoo, and allowed her to donate the rest.

I really don't even want to think about what would happen if they lost
my luggage. Seriously This is my typical scenario. Buy some
new stuff for trip. Get there and decide it doesn't fit right and wear
same old stand bys. The thought of a) shopping for new stuff in an
unfamiliar city and b) being without the stand bys really makes me
insane so I'm not going there

Gotta tell you all this. On our trip to Birmingham, Kris shopped and shopped and finally found the things she needed. We DID have carry on. So they take our bags and stow them in the belly of the plane as we are boarding (most of the planes today do not have room in the overheads for "carry on" luggage bags. Get to our connection and wait outside the plane. All the luggage comes out and they unload in onto the tarmac. My bag is there. No bag for Kris. Everyone has grabbed their bags and gone. She went into panic mode. The airline guys shrug. Said that is it. Finally the female flight attendant comes out to go on her way, and stops to see what is wrong. Told her. She chewed out the luggage guys... said "you know how the bags slide up to the front, now go look for this lady's bag - NOW !!". They did. And found it, much to poor Kris' relief. I do not know what we would have done if the flight attendant had not stopped ... we were clueless as to what had happened to the bag as we had not seen anyone take it from the stack!

How many of you guys are going??? If I go to the convention...then I wont be able to afford to head up north for the summer??? But now that I see so many ARE going...I dont want to miss the fun. I have a room on hold at the DT...just gotta find a way to get there without breaking the piggy bank. Pray I can find a decent flight and thatmy boss will ok my time off request.
