Cripe Margaux....I wish I could go with you to John Mellencamp (drop the C Tongue) .  He is such a cool Indiana farm boy who nearly killed himself with a heart attack many years ago. His Our Country has taken over where Like A Rock left the Chevy truck ad world.

I would love to see him live but cannot spend the $$ now and weeknights are not good for me. If you go....please take pics and post recap here!
He has a mean (meaning great) lady fiddle player too!

I know Rascal Flatts is bordering on pop-country but I own their last 3 CDs and many tunes are real gems.
I would have gone to see Johnny Cougar Grin in Portland but Holiday concerts never seem to pan out for me.  I can't take the time nor the money this close to Christmas - unless of course Taylor showed up somewhere.  That would be my Christmas present to myself and I wouldn't care if anyone else got me a darned thing!

John's Our Country has gotten a lot of airtime - almost a little too much if you know what I mean.  Between that and John Mayer's Waiting on the World to Change my radio buttons get a workout.

Rascal Flatts is OK.  Ever since they redid Life is a Highway for the Cars movie they sort of lost their appeal to me.  I saw (not to compare groups) Lonestar in concert a couple of years ago when they were in their heyday.  They were great live.  Most country acts that I just find 'ok' are good live, including Faith Hill's husband Wink and Wynonna!  That woman can sing!!!

I've always liked him, especially as he got more rootsy as the years went on, added the fiddles.  His songs are just good basic mainstream rock that you can sing along with, about normal middle class folks.   But he's not high enough on my radar that I sought out his live show..  but heck 17 miles is close enough if the good seats start showing up, and I don't have any early appointments next Friday.

Too bad you can't join me.
