I have not heard this anywhere else..
from an article about Univ. of Maryland-Baltimore Campus Camerata concert --
At the performance's end, Smith thanked the audience and off-handedly remarked that the UMBC Camerata was invited to sing for the President (yeah, that guy) this Christmas, alongside Rascal Flatts and Taylor Hicks. Without becoming too editorial (but I can't help myself), I think I have a pretty good idea about who will be the classiest act in that room (hint: their approval rating is going up, and they don't sing faux-country).
Before you get too alarmed, I'm sure the "faux-country" act is Rascal Flatts.
If you want to know what a Camerata is, this is what they perform:
The UMBC Camerata performs challenging Renaissance and contemporary works, and includes music majors as well as non-majors, each of whom auditions for his or her position in the group.

Okay Nancy Drew, how the hell did you find that one?

Nice
find! It wouldn't surprise me if Taylor was invited back to a Presidential
gig-they seem to enjoy him!
From UMBC Underground...
"As a fellow recital attendee remarked, “The camerata is UMBC’s best kept secret”. I disagree with that wholeheartedly,
as I don’t believe that a group with such strong voices and one that will be singing at the annual White House Christmas deserves to be kept a secret."
Margaux will answer here the same way she does to me...
Google alerts - that's all.

What Amy said.
And I first suspected this was one of those "expired" stories that keep coming up on the alerts, but no, this was a very legitimate college newspaper, with a current dateline.
I was wondering why he was reported as dining with friends in DC recently...if it might have something to do with a performance there. Maybe taping one or rehearsing for one or having a meeting for one. Why else would he be in DC?
I wouldn't be surprised if Bush invited him back this year. Seemed he was really getting into his performance last year...(as much as Bush can manage and still seem dignified).
Is it just me, or did the writer put down a slight slam on Taylor as not being classy?
Think the writer was praising their own just as we do - don't see any need to go hunting for something else - the faux-country crack seems pretty obviously aimed at RF as Margaux already pointed out.
Speaking of Rascal Flatts - did a search of their forums & sites tonight and came up with nada. If this is happening, it's a state secret - at least for the time being. I hope someone is able to come up with video of it if it is a private affair! Taylor in suit & tie performing is a beautiful thing.

I'm told by Elliott's girls that E was playing in the area and had a couple days off around the same time. I like to think a couple old friends got together for dinner and drinks before they get busy with the holidays.
I would like to think that too, mari! He was playing down the street apparently that same night...but why didn't they mention him in the newspaper article if he was there with Taylor?

This is off topic a little bit but and really didn't want to start a new thread but.......I've been listening to his 3 songs he did last xmas in front of the president espically merry christmas baby one how and or where can I burn them on a cd of my own.I've got to have those blasting now in my stereo.OMG that Merry Xmas Baby one.

his voice is premo just right dead on.
Can anyone help me, remember I'm computer stupid still.
