Great article in the Boston Herald on Taylor at the Avalon last night. 4/4/07   http://theedge.bostonherald.com/musicNews/view.bg?articleid=192748w00tbounce
Great article! Good timing too - I was just scanning the net for reports on last night's concert. For those that were lucky enough to be there, throw the rest of us a few crumbs to live vicariously off of until tomorrow night! Wink
Hi Everyone -

I printed this over at Gray Charles Hampton thread too.

I arrived late at Boston Beerworks in my efforts to meet up with the New England Soul Patrol. Before I knew it, Liz put a bag contaning a Red Sox jersey in my hands and said "Get this to Taylor". (She knows I love the media relations thing). Sooooo..... I went on my mission to deliver the Red Sox jersey to Taylor before his concert. (Amy did such a great job ordering and personalizing the shirt!)

I finally made contact with his tour manager who got the shirt to him during the Toby Lightman portion of the show. I would have loved to give it to him myself but he wouldn't let that happen as it was so close to showtime.
(I hugged the shirt - for all of his fans - before I let it go - it was so cool that Taylor had it on after I hugged it!)

Taylor really surprised me when he came out for his encore wearing the Hicks 07 Red Sox shirt. He knew it was from New England Soul Patrol because Tricia, our webmaster, made an awesome card (with a picture of Taylor in a Red Sox uniform running a homer) which we all signed. That made my night.

Karen D'V
I saw it and I LOVE IT!!
Huge pats on the back for Karen for getting this to Taylor and for
that fabulous picture Thud

Milt has a good one too!

This was huge for our club-great idea Amy, great card Tricia, and
thanks to everyone who donated to make it all happen. Stuff like this
will make NESP memorable to Taylor Highfive
Thanks for posting the article! He is kicking ass in Boston-the media
loves him. HeartI just saw him on Fox News-I hope someone else saw it and captured the video-it was awesome.

Congrats to Lori, who was on the news in her purple shirt cheering
for Taylor Highfive NESP's first TV appearance (I think?!) Woohoo
Hey guys~

It was so great meeting you all Huggy I had a BLAST! Liz asked me to put up my recap and pics so here it is! Hope you all are having fun in Hampton tonight! Hope to see some of you in Westbury!

Ok I won't go thru all the boring details, but Julie, Kylee and I left home at about 1:45 pm listening to Taylor all the way   to where we took the T into Boston. Fortunately the T stop is 1 block from Fenway, so it was really convenient! We walked to Boston Beerworks where the pre-party was. I met a bunch of folks there from just about every board I've ever herd of~ that was cool   ! We left there about 4:30 pm to go over to the venue, and see if there were M & G's for anyone. The line was already forming, so we decided to stay there.. only about 25 people waiting at that time, so I knew we'd be real close to the front.

I was ON THE JOB    trying to figure out the M & G stuff for the next 2 hrs. I herd a little of the warm-up as I was patrolling... and on one of my trips I'd found out that I missed Taylor coming out the back door, and onto the Bus by 2 minutes   ... Saw Brian Less talking to some folks I met   .. saw Saxy Brian    just walking down the line, and no one noticed him until I said "Hey, Saxy Brian"! LOL! OH YEA~ There were 2 guys with TV camera's there, so there is a possibility of some footage in the near future~ they ended one of the clips on my shirt   ~ LOL! There were also a group of young girls (10 ish) with one celebrating one of their birthdays~ Taylor saw them when he was on the bus, and they got invited in ~ That was really cute! They were all screaming! I tried to get near the door for a pic, but it was already mobbed! They blocked traffic for like 5 minutes! LOL! The club is on one of the sides of Fenway, so it's a one way~ the buses were right in front of the club   ...easily viewed by all! Kept that in mind for later....

The doors opened, and we went in..Thank GOD! It was starting to get cold out there! Got our spot right up front~ only 1 row of people already there, so that was good   ! My friend Joanie (who met us there) noticed that the people there were not in front of us in line, so I have no idea where they came from.... Kylee and I bought our stuff before hand also~ another great tip    from those who came before!
At this time I asked security again about the M & G, and told him if there is none I need to get a gift basket to Taylor.. He got it to the tour mgr and assured me Taylor would get it (his shirt I made is in there!) I also found out at that time there was NEVER a M & G (THHQ presale) scheduled for Boston~FYI everyone: not all stops have one, contrary to popular belief.

Toby Lightman came on, she was FANTASTIC   ! Anyone who doesn't get to see her on this leg of the tour needs to go listen to the clips from her album~ Julie bought it today and LOVES it... She's beautiful too... Joanie said she reminds her of a younger/blonder Sheryl Crow.. Just 4 of them in her band... they did really great! The drummer broke his drumstick on their last song   ~ AWESOME!
So then Taylor comes on~ in all his Glory   !! (Set list below~ I won't recap here) The few things I noticed: if he was still feeling sick, it did NOT show   ... he looked~sounded FANTAYSTIC! And looked really happy, lots of smiles   ! That's the one thing I noticed the most~ his happiness. He made one comment something like "I feel like I'm back in the clubs... OH YEA I AM   !"~ LOL that was cute! And how suprised was I to hear "Somewhere" for the first time on Tour   ~ I almost cried... Lots of the time I was in a daze, and other times clicking away, so I feel like I didn't get the whole experience   (I'll have to make up for that in Westbury)

Near the end of the set he also tagged "Dirty Water"    (ahhhhh, Boston your my home!) although he did not sing the words, the melody was worked in, and I think we all (or at least I) noticed it   !! Right after that he left the stage..the place was on FIRE   ~ everyone screaming for MORE.... well more their was. Taylor returned to the stage for the final song "BADGE" ~ IN HIS RED SOX SHIRT THE GROUP GOT HIM     !!! That was very cool... He has asked us earlier in the night if we liked the "Red Sox" and everyone went nuts! Great way to pay homage to Boston   !!

Then it was over   .... the club opens at 10 for dancing    (a friend of mine calls it Euro-trash ~ LOL) so the space needed to be cleared...
This is when I remember about the Buses right out front   ... we go over to wait (about 50 people waiting) Kylee is so small lots of people let her in front, but I was about 4 deep to where he was coming out.. about 10 min. later out the back door Taylor comes! YAY! Kylee had the camera, and got that one good shot    before he said "no pictures" I get that... he came out and everything was flashing.. I'm sure it blinded him   ~ poor baby! So I take the camera from her, and she takes my phone and hands it to him   ! LOL! That was wicked cool for her to do for her Mom   , don't ya think??!! Julie had my 30 ROCK pass, and handed it to him to sign and he did   ! People were great, when they were done, they turned around to get out of everyone behind them's way     ...so I'm moving up slowly... I'm within 5 feet, but someone is in front of me who can't move yet, and he said "just reach around me" so I did    ~ to hand my ticket to Taylor... he looked up slightly as I handed it to him... and missed it the first time   ! LOL! He went for it again, and missed the 2nd time~ getting my hand instead   ! The third time, we connected   , and he got the ticket..signed it... and gave it back.. I said Thanks Taylor! And he replied "Anytime"... then he was off down the line, while I let someone else in...

We walked to the T with Liana    and I called Diane to give her the details I could remember! LOL! I got home just after midnight...and you all know the rest...

The band really likes eachother... I was watching them all interact~ really cool~ saw Loren and Felix laughing a few times! CUTIES!
Gonna go upload some pics for you all to view now....

GAH   ~ I forgot... at the end of the show Taylor gave his harmonica    to a child with Down's Syndrome ... very sweet   ! She was completely THRILLED   !

OMG~ I just remembered something else too   ...

As "Badge" was ending , Taylor did this amazing Harp blowout   , and pulled a total rock star move    by throwing the harp and the mic onto the stage  ~ that was AWESOME   !

Thanks Liz! LOL! I hoped all day no one from work saw it, cuz I called in sick! LOL! I put the link in my recap! Enjoy!
Thanks for the pictures Lori, you rock! I went to the concert last night and I didn't have a camera to bring since my mom took ours to Las Vegas with her this week.
Great recap Lori! A couple of us noticed the Dirty Water melody. I
kept writing to him on his myspace etc. saying that would be a great
song for him to do in Boston....seems like a natural for that venue!

Here's the link to our first NESP member "in the news" and nice
interview. "The Soul Patrol Rocked The House at Avalon last night..."
