Keep in mind that Manchester VT is also fairly central to many from CT-ME, full of historic sites, fun stuff for the kids/family ("Bromley" ski area (no we don't own it, butthe mountain was named for my husband's family 100+ yrs. ago) w/ slide in summer) , and all the outlet shopping you could want. But President's Day week-end is surely not the time to visit as it will be a mob scene !
Duff,
Know you'll appreciate this - seems my son is planning on being in Manchester that weekend
for a flight school for hot air balloon pilots ! The registration fee is what he wants for his birthday present
.
He is determined to get his license ASAP and has already acumulated a bunch of hours thanks to the sweetheart of a pilot who comes and flys for us in the festival here. And dear son wants to build his own balloon too - - not sure how I feel about that

My parents used to live in Manchester VT and it was such a pretty
place! I think we'd be the only ones up after 9:00 unless something
has changed

I've never been to VT - - - it's the only New England state I haven't been to thanks to Taylor's tour schedule this year!
Would Wrentham be any easier on the CT folks? And, has anyone heard from Karen?
Karen is away on a business trip-should be back any day now. If
Wrentham is what you're leaning towards, we can ask her about the
house party and see if she's still up for it.
There have been so many good ideas we have plenty of destinations
for the future on a non vacation week!

Of course, Taylor can
give us some destinations any time soon!

Amy - if you plan a trip to Vermont try Burlington.
We were there quite a few years ago now and Loved the area - have always meant to go back.
Yes, Burlington is fun too. Lots of neat stuff to see there also. Downtown, especially, as Church St. is closed to traffic, lots of neat shops and restaurants there.
Liz, Manchester is still the same as far as night life. Killington, on the other hand, is hopping.
AH, when we were at the kid's house last week-end (they are right outside Burlington VT) there were 5 hot air balloons going over (son-in-law hoped one would land on the property again LOL). One balloon was a one-man type of thing and the guy hung below the balloon. Not sure where the fire came from (although the guys had hilarious comments).. he did not get close enough to see. Scared me to even look at it. Yikes.
You thought Hampton was COLD last April??? Try February on the beach......NOT!
Let me know if you ever go to Kittery Amy.
I don't think Alicia was refering to the weather so much, which was cold but managable. I believe she was commenting about the cold in our room. We had like maximum AC pumping into our room full blast
, especially the first day of our stay!!! I thought we were going to freeze to death. One should not be able to see ones breath in their hotel room.
Yeah and when I called the front desk she told me I had the AC too high and I should put it on low! Ok that would work.
Can I throw my 2 cents in here? Mystic CT is great!! Just think of us hanging out at Mystic Pizza, Ben and Jerry's, the Aquarium. Also, its close enough for me and David and the kids to get to (about 3 hrs, give or take)...Im also up for Sturbridge village. Any place close to Boston is fine too. But I dont think I will be able to join you guys if its further than 5-6 hrs away. Going all the way to NH or ME at this time of year is really not feasible for me and the family. (Remember, my heart's in NE BUT I live in PA!)
I could suggest ya'll come here (lol), like to Philly shopping at the Crossings inTannersville or the Outlets in Hershey (sales tax is 6%, but none on CLOTHES!!)...I dont expect you guys to trek west this time of year tho!
