I actually like Gretchen's suggestion of her "area". Foxwoods has everything that you all seem to be looking for. Bar area for the all-nighter....free shows....shopping....museums....and of course gambling. What would a casino be without one! Haha

Mohegan Sun has a show the weekend of 2/15-16-17 called "The Rat Pack is Back"(not a free show, but sounded fun). Supposed to be a tribute to the Rat Pack era of Vegas. They also have a martini bar with over 50 specialty drinks! Tons of shopping too.

I may or may not be able to pull an overnight out of my hat, and I'd love to see you all again so if you decide on something locally to this area I'll be there!
I just cked out Wrentham...that sounds AWESOME and I think my family could do that. I would make this a family weekend, but leave the DH and the kids in the hotel room while I go party with the NESP!

That sounds fun too!

Wrentham area would probably be more affordable than Foxwoods,
I'm guessing...also close enough to do side trip to Boston or
Sturbridge for the kids...Mystic would probably be affordable.

Personally, if it's just a one night thing I'd rather not do a casino-pricey
and too distracting if we're trying to visit. I'd be up for a casino trip in
the future when I have more cash though Highfive Raise some funds
for Taylor trips!! Woohoo
Actually, casino can be pretty affordable if you don't STAY there, get a place a bit afield where it's cheaper. Oh, either of them will overcharge you for weak drinks. Doesn't matter for me, since I'm sober. Grin If you settle on Mystic, stay in Groton. Anyone who thinks N. Stonington is affordable has tons more money than me. Roll Eyes I, of course, would stay at home for either of these! There is also a lovely little town called Niantic (ahem) where we have two bars, one with live music, one with karaoke. Good prices, excellent food. Driving distance of Mystic, both casinos, and tons of other interesting things. No, you may not stay at my house.
I wouldn't expect anyone to actually stay at the casinos....they can be a bit pricey.  As Gretchen mentioned there are a few local places that would be in the price range you are probably looking for.  However the casinos have quite a few free shows as well as ticketed ones.  They also have dance clubs if it became that kind of an all-nighter.  Not to mention the buffet...it's pretty reasonably priced for all the food you can get.  Just stay away from the Seafood at Foxwoods.  Not a good value for the price.

Coming from the mother who drove 10 hours home from Hannah Montana in Rochester, NY then two days later went to Disney....I'm just as broke as anyone Haha

The cheaper the better!
I think my brother houses his boat in Niantic. Cool town! Karaoke
sounds fun Woohoo
The Rat Pack show combined with a martini bar sounds wonderful to me

but ..........If this is primarily for us to spend time together then I would rather not do a casino - been there - done that - not a lot of team sport atmosphere.
And if you aren't even going to stay there then have to get back out into cold cars and drive to a hotel -Sad

I was originally thinking weekend but sounds more like we are looking at one night .

So if this is going to be a one night deal then isn't the hotel pretty important ? ?
It may be that some people will not get in until the afternoon and have to leave again the next moring

Would be great if we could find a nice but reasonable hotel that is somewhat self contained in terms of a nice bar and restaurant and maybe make sure one room is a suite. - - afer all - hanging out seems to be what we are all pretty good at Grin

just a thought !! !
Let me re-introduce you to this little place

Mystic is a nice area, definately pricey for hotels, but then again may be cheaper this time of year. Niantic is nice also....Grin
