Post the lyrics in the "Choosing Songs" thread in Taylor's section (you know - in case he stops by to check it out Wink )

Duh ok going to do this I think if I can find the lyrics.Smile

Just reading the lyrics only gives you a small piece of the pie....so to speak listen to it if you can cause it will give you visual of him doing it too.Devil:devil:Grin

I'd link it over here but you should all know me by now.Roll Eyes
Think it is safe to say that Taylor already knows every song Van Morrison has ever done.

And absolutely agree Lisa, VM's songs need to be heard to be fully understood and appreciated.

This is the only audio I could find - - Tupelo Honey has never been available on Rhapsody sadly and a LOT of VM has disappeared from the Tube recently Sad

Here's the lyrics for those who may have trouble with the audio stream

Van Morrison - Moonshine Whiskey

Oh, she give me moonshine whiskey
Oh, she give me southern love
Deep in the heart of texas
There beneath the stars above
Oh, she give me southern comfort
Oh, she give me moonshine love
Deep in the heart of texas
There beneath the stars above

Here I am riding on a train
Just about thunderballs down the line
Just cant wait any longer
See that little darling of mine
See that little darling of mine

Shes my texas sweetheart
Part from arkansas
Then were dancing
Across the floor
And a band was playing
People were swayin, to and fro
Streamline promenade
Streamline promenade
And I said, wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute
Im gonna take a plane
Come with me tonight
Gonna put on my hot pants
And promenade down funky broadway till the cows come home
La la la da.....
Oh streamline promenade
Promenade streamline
Streamline promenade
Promenade streamline
Think Im gonna promenade all night

Oh, she give me moonshine whiskey
Oh, she give me southern love
Deep in the heart of texas
There beneath the stars above
Oh, she give me southern comfort
Oh, she give me moonshine love
Deep in the heart of texas
There beneath the stars above

Listen, here we are
Thinking about time
When I resist here and now
And I just want to lie my feet on a river bed instead
Cant wait any longer
For the sign
I want to get down some time in the water

Watch the fish in the water
Bubbles, watch the bubbles come up in the water
Promenade streamline in the water
Streamline promenade, get funky
Promenade streamline, funky as you want to be
La da da.....
Streamline promenade
Well, I feel alright tonight
Streamline promenade

Oh, she give me moonshine whiskey
Oh, she give me southern love
Oh, she give me moonshine whiskey
Oh, she give me southern love
She give me southern love
Child, she give me southern love.....

I need to dig out my Van Live from the Montreux DVD and give that a look-see/listen again.

It may only be on the Tupelo Honey album - - the original is hard to find but just remembered seeing a blurb and went to Amazon

And a remastered reissue dropped today Grin

Note - this is the first current post but please take a scroll through the earlier conversation.

As you can see I've added a new siggy to my collection - - a quote I found today on . . I AM FUEL, YOU ARE FRIENDS

Quote:
But the convocation address in the celestial Shove Chapel this morning was given by CC alum Aaron Shure, who is now a sitcom writer (Everybody Loves Raymond, The Office). In addition to giving a very funny speech to all the fresh-faced incoming students about the paths we take to being our authentic selves, he read a quote from Miles Davis that I'd not heard before, but struck me as worth repeating:

“Sometimes you have to play a long time to be able to play like yourself.” --Miles Davis (American jazz musician, 1926-1991)

Yep.

It also reminded me of something I read some time ago about blues musicians rarely producing their most memorable work before their 40s - - and started me wondering if the two ideas were related.
- - - and if Taylor is still sampling styles as part of his own process of " learning to play like himself ".

A lot of us think he reaches that goal when he seems to completely "go into the music " - for lack of a better description - and yes I'm going to trot out the Cohasset show as an example. Realize there are other concerts that are as good or maybe even better examples - - but this is the one many from this board were there for so the easiest to use.
Some think Taylor's work on the TH album indicates he would like a more mainstream sound.
For others his best style may be the Idol "showman" that seems to carry over to the Teen Angel part - - there are even those who would like nothing better than for Taylor to become the next Wayne Newton of Vegas.

Thoughts ?
