Love them all! Smile
Ally:
I did not notice the lettuce, either! Tongue

It appears that we ALL had a case of TIBO, and we had not even gotten to the concert yet... WHOOPS!
Where to begin?

Much to both my Dad’s and my regret, my Mom was not able to attend Taylor’s concert due to her being ill, which is a story for another time…

For this concert, I was going to be meeting up with a bunch of SPers from the “New England Soul Patrol”, considering that I live in CT…

Even though I am technically a New Englander, I call myself more of a New Yorker, based on WHERE in CT that I actually reside…
Hey, when I live only 75 minutes away from NYC...? LOL!

Anyway, I happen to work in Shelton, CT, which is approximately a 45 minute drive to Torrington, CT, in good conditions…

Dad picked me up at work around 3:45pm as I got done at 3:30, and we started our journey shortly thereafter.

Of course, the weather was SO delightful (NOT!) due to the pouring rain, but Dad & I still got to the theater around 4:30ish.

I was meeting everyone at a neat little restaurant called Bogey’s, which is attached to the Yankee Pedlar Inn, which was literally across the street.

We went through to the bar, but could not locate anyone, so we went to the Yankee Pedlar Inn, and asked the hotel clerk about the gathering.

The hotel clerk was cute when she said that she had no clue about any gatherings, so she directed us back to the bar…

We returned to the bar and asked the bartender about the SP party. He was not positive, but as soon as he mentioned the name Caryn, I said yes, that is the gathering, and he brought my Dad and me to the room…

Once we got there, Dad & I met AllyKat & Ellie, who were the only people there at the moment…

My Dad happens to love taking walks, especially in places where he is not familiar with at all, so he took a walk of downtown Torrington…

AllyKat won a M&G, so she was getting anxious as she felt like she was going to have a major case of TIBO right before the M&G, so Ellie & I tried to keep her mind away from that…

It was getting close to the time for the M&G, and by that time, someone else had arrived, TayFan76, I believe, so Ellie would not be by herself, as I offered to Ally my assistance carrying over all of the gift bags to the theater…

I got Taylor a really neat DVD of both Jimi Hendrix & Otis Redding at the Monterey Pop Festival that happened in Monterey, CA in June 1967…

Not only that, I drew a really cool picture for Taylor, that I occasionally call “psychedelic amoebas,” and you can easily see both HOW and WHY when you see the picture of it…

It featured the following colors:
     Blue: Blue-eyed soul music;
     Gray: Taylor’s gorgeous hair;
     Purple: Taylor’s famous jacket;
     Red: the passion that Taylor exhibits whenever he performs; &
     Silver: for the shining light that Taylor brought back into my life…

I brought a copy of my M&G photo with me, thinking that if I stood outside at the buses after the show, maybe Taylor would sign it for me, but Ally offered to bring it with her to the M&G…

It came back signed! Thanks, Ally! Huggy

Eventually, more people showed up, and we had a great, lively crowd…
I apologize in advance for not remembering everyone’s name, so PLEASE feel free to give me a shout-out…

Most of us ordered just appetizers, or soup, as the day was EXTREMELY chilly for August, a mere 58 degrees!!!

I wholeheartedly recommend the pasta fagiole and their crabcakes with shrimp sauce, which are EXCELLENT!!!

We had a BLAST during dinner, and something caught my ear, so I listened for a couple of moments before I said anything… I got everyone’s attention, and guess what was playing on the radio: HEAVEN KNOWS!!!
WOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

Fortunately, Dad came back in time so we were able to get a few group photos, thanks to Dad…

Top Row:
AllyKat; Linda; Lisa - JAG's daughter; Emmax; Ellie

Bottom Row:
JAG; yours truly; Nikki aka TayFan76 (I think); CarynLovesTaylor

We also had 3 Taylor-virgins, being JAG’s daughter Lisa, my Dad, and Ellie, so I got a couple of photos of them…

Eventually, it got closer to the time for the concert, and we went to the theater…

I found the merchandise table, looked at the goodies available, and saw Stephen…

It took a few moments, but I eventually introduced myself to Stephen as marymagdalene, and he said that he has read several of my posts… YAY!!!

I told him that I agreed with what everyone has posted on “TOSP,” “NESP,” and on “Boogie”… I also told him that if I come up with any ideas/thoughts, I would definitely contact him…

I finally got my mini-harp, and I LOVE the fact that it bears the HOHNER name…

The doors opened at approximately 7:30, and Dad & I got to our seats, which were impressive…

There were actually security guards, from a REAL SECURITY FIRM, patrolling (I apologize for the really bad pun) the theater…

I knew that one of my friends from work was there with his wife, daughter and 3 other family members, so I was trying to locate him, but was not successful…

Also, a couple of ladies I know from "TOSP" drove up from the NYC-area to attend this concert, so I talked to them for a while either before the opening band began, or during the intermission before Taylor...

A group called “The Alternate Routes” (http://www.thealternateroutes.com) opened for Taylor Hicks on both Thursday 8/9, and 8/10, and they were really cool!

FYI: They are also going to be opening for Taylor in Staten Island on 8/18… Do check them out!!!

What was neat about them was that three of them met while they were attending Fairfield University, of which I live within walking distance to!

It was probably one of the ushers, or even one of the security people, but I smelled something that had patchouli in it… Do not get me wrong – I like patchouli, but OY!
That stuff had to have been either parfum (near pure perfume) or the essential oil, which kept wafting over to my area, and that was almost the only thing I could focus on…

The Alternate Routes played for 30 minutes, and I think 4 songs… One of them even needed audience participation, which was really cool…

Before I forget, the lead singers mentioned that he met most of his band-mates at FFLD U., and are currently based in Bridgeport, CT, they have ties to a town somewhere mid-state, and one of his relatives lives in Torrington, so that brought the house down…

Their next gig is at the Quick Center at Fairfield U., in September, so I think I might check them out…

They also thanked Taylor for letting them open for him both in Watertown, NY and here in Torrington…

I also believe that I heard him say that it was BECAUSE of them opening for Taylor that is how they GOT the gig at Fairfield U…

During the intermission, I went out to see if I could get their CD, which happens to be available on Amazon, if you are interested…

Not only did I get their CD, I also got it signed by the lead singer!

Now onto the IMPORTANT part: Taylor Hicks…

I am not going to go into detail about the actual concert, at this particular moment in time, as I am still reeling from the experience…

BUT, I do have a couple of observations at this particular moment in time, and they are as follows:

Four brand-new songs for me to hear:
“Dirty Lowdown” by Boz Skaggs;
“The Way It Is” by Bruce Hornsby;
                “Mandolin Rain” by Bruce Hornsby; and
“Take the Long Way Home” by Super Tramp...

When Taylor did “The Maze” I just LOVED it when he walked around Boogie, Josh, went through the instrument racks, went BEHIND Felix, circled around Saxy Brian, and then Loren, JUST LIKE IT WAS A MAZE!!! LOL!!!

For those who went to this concert, PLEASE go to www.warnertheater.org and they have a PATRON FEEDBACK on Taylor’s page, and PLEASE rate the experience... Who knows, if they get enough high marks, maybe they might ask Taylor to return at a later date…?

AllyKat told me that she was going to be heading towards the bus right before Taylor returned for the encore, and Ally did this so I would tell Ellie where to find her…

I thought it was really cool the way how Taylor told the light-people to kill the spots, so the encore song would be just the stage lights…

I had barely begun to hear the music, when all of a sudden, I had a premonition of what the song was going to be and by Jove, and it was!!! AHHHHHH!!!!!

The way how Taylor played the harp in the intro, is SO haunting, left me absolutely speechless…

In retrospect, that is probably why I was both so agog and aghast at my lack of words upon my return home when I started typing what I did…

After the concert got done, Dad told me he had to go someplace important, so I told Dad where Ellie & I were going...

Once Ellie & I got outside, Ellie realised that she left her coat back inside the theater, so we headed back towards the front of the theater...

We managed to get back into the theater lobby, when Ellie continued on her way into the theater itself when my cellphone rang out Taylor's "Soul Thing."

It was my Dad, wondering where I was, and I told him where I was, then Dad told me that he would catch up with me...

While I was waiting for Dad locate me, that was when I returned to the Merchandise table to purchase my lavender Taylor summer-tour t-shirt...

There was a Mom and son discussing with Stephen which CD to get, and even though that this is PURELY a personal preference, I told them to get "Under the Radar," but I did tell them though "In Your Time" has Taylor's version of "Georgia" which is absolutely unbelievable...

At that point, that was when Dad caught up with me, and so I do not know which CD they purchased...

Dad & I got to our car safely, then we started our way home, and got home just about one hour later, at 11:30pm, and I promptly went online to attempt to state what I first posted:

Quote:
OMG! OMG! OMG!
It was an INCREDIBLE concert!
I am in the middle of an ASTOUNDING case of TIBO, despite the fact that I am remembering the concert perfectly...

I have just SUCH a lack of words at this particular moment in time, it is SO not funny...
