OMG! OMG! OMG!
It was an INCREDIBLE concert!
I am in the middle of an ASTOUNDING case of TIBO, despite the fact that I am remembering the concert perfectly...
I have just SUCH a lack of words at this particular moment in time, it is SO not funny...
The security was fairly strict about standing/dancing, which was frowned upon, and people were frequently told to sit down...
Also, cameras were allowed, to a point...
I have a video of "Gonna Move" and part of "Give Me Tonight" when I was told no cameras, so I turned it off, and only took a few photos with my little Olympus SP-310...
I did not want to run the risk of them taking my camera/card...
Definitely more later tomorrow/Saturday...
Also, perspective of the concert from my Dad!!!
If I can go out on a limb and say, that so far, out of my 4 Taylor concerts, this one is at LEAST on par with The Beacon in NYC...
Both NYC & Torrington are/were PHENOMENAL and MIND-BLOWING...
DEFINITELY tied for 1st...
Then Cohasset, MA, follows close behind...
Foxwoods, sad to say, is a VERY distant 4th...
I am SO wound-up from tonight, yet all I want to do now is crash...
But, if I do, I am concerned that I will lose my train of thought...

Hello everyone,I am still in a trance after last nights spectacular concert in Torrington.A band called Alternate Route opened the show and I must say they were great and got the audience even more fired up for Taylor! After a short intermission Taylor took the stage to a thunderous applause, the audience was smokin and each fed off of the other.Taylor's vocals were right on the mark and the band was superb. They are so in tune with one another,it is amazing to watch them in action.Taylor's rendition of Compared To What was off the charts as was Dirty Low Down and Take The Long Way Home with the hot harp. The audience was a nice mixture of varied age groups and there were quite a few men. There were lots of signs and banners displayed by fans throughout this gorgeous theatre. When Taylor's set was over he left the stage to a standing ovation and deafening applause.Within a few minutes he returned to the stage with the lights dimmed per his request and lo and behold the harp and the intro to Take The Long Way Home,it was off the charts ! He ended the show with Soul Thing which was the perfect ending to a perfect evening !After the show Taylor graciously ,signed all of our books and pictures at the buses, making sure he did so for everyone who waited there and did it with a smile. He is truly something else! I would say that Torrington loves Taylor Hicks and rightfully so the man is amazing!!
Before the show we met up with some of the most wonderful people from NESP at Bogies,an adorable little restaurant across from the Warner Caryn,AllyKat,MaryMagdalin and her Dad,who is an absolute sweetheart and two other lovely ladies who I apologize to for forgetting names,I am getting a little senile. We had a wonderful time chatting and sharing dinner and taking pictures which I'm sure will be posted here soon.It is so nice to be able to put faces on the names.I want to thank all of you for sharing a wonderful night,it was my pleasure to be a part of it.I hope to be able to do it again in the future. One little side note,my daughter was absolutely blown away by Taylor, she is now a full fledged fan! One fan at a time huh?

Hi guys,
Like Gretchen said, it was so awesome! The only bad part was that we couldn't stand up & dance.
I was proud of myself that I managed to say more than two words to him this time at the M&G! That's because I had a very special job to do, bringing him the NESP gifts.
I had originally wanted Caryn to take my place since she worked her hiney off getting the gifts & putting them together, but she was running late so I bit the bullet & prayed I would do the group proud.
Let's see, where do I start? First, Caryn wanted to make sure that the gifts did get to Taylor on time, so she sent her Sweetie Bob ahead to meet me at Bogey's to get me the gifts. What a remarkable job she did putting everything together! Wow!
Unfortunately, a lot of the gang was running late so all of the gifts didn't make it into the bags before I had to go. Traffic, etc....blech.
I did get to give Taylor the gift bag from Gretchen. She made a beautiful original artwork for him plus bought him the Jimi Hendrix/Otis Redding dvd.
There were only about 9-10 people for the M&G. It took place right in the lobby of the Warner (around the corner near the theater doors). I made sure that I was last in line so I would have a lil more time.
Well, when it came to my turn, I started walking toward him. He was sitting at a table & Bill was standing next to him in the front of the table. The look on their faces when they saw me coming toward them lugging all those gift bags was priceless. They were like, "OMG..what the...?" I wish I could've taken a pic. All I said to them as I was walking was, "Don't ask!".
First I said "Hi Bill!" & handed him my camera, then I introduced myself to Taylor & shook his hand. I then told him that I was the official rep of the NESP this time around. I forgot exactly what he said, something along the lines of there being a lot of us now. But he was happy when he said it. I told him that he had such a great group of fans with the NESP & that they were promoting the heck out of him in New England. He smiled & said "that's great!". I proceeded to present each gift bag one by one. I first gave him the one for Caroline & said that "this was to welcome her into the NESP family". He had a big smile & said,"Thanks". Then I hoisted up the big bag of chocolates & said, " this is for the band & crew". He peeked inside so I told him how they're chocolate musical notes. Both his & Bill's eyes lit up & they were happy! He said, "Great!" (Great idea, Caryn!). Then I showed him the photo of Gretchen & him at her Foxwood M&G. I said that this was my friend Gretchen & she has something for you too, then I gave him her gift bag. He smiled & said "cool" & signed her photo for her.
Then came his gift bag from the NESP (by then I think his arms were getting tired lol!) He peeked inside & said "wow, thank you!" It was funny, he had gift bags surrounded all around him! He was very appreciative though. Then I gave him the gift bag from my daughter Taylor. I told him how she wanted to come see him but her Daddy was sick & she wanted to stay home to take care of him. He said, "Awww..staying home to take care of her Daddy, how sweet".
I said, "well, that's all the gifts". I told him that he needs to get his crew here to help him lug all of the stuff back. He chuckled.
I thanked him so much & told him to have a great show & I got up & walked away. I was so proud of myself for pulling it off without a hitch....until....I looked down & saw that my purse wasn't on my shoulder! D'oh!! I turned back around & said, "hey taylor! did you steal my purse?" He was so sweet. He started looking right away. He & Bill were looking all around for it & said, "I can't see it, but if my guys find it, We'll get it to ya, ok? " Leave it to me to have Taylor steppin & fetchin.
I am such a MoMo sometimes!
Luckily, the manager of the theater was there & found it under the table when he lifted up the tablecloth. What a nice man.
Then I went over & introduced myself to Stephen at the merchandise table. Talk about a sweet man! I told him that I will send the rest of the NESP over to say "hi" & told him, "don't forget to have Taylor give you the chocolate that we got for ya". He said, "Oh! I won't"
I have to say that I had such a great time with you all. You are the sweetest bunch of people! And, Ellie, thank you so much for the cd. That really means a lot to me.
I will post pics later. Gotta go celebrate hubby's bday.
I so wish that I could go to RI tonight!!!! All of you that are going, have a blast (& have a drink for me!).

AllyKat,
You did a wonderful job representing us with Taylor and Bill. I would have been so nervous, if it were me. I'm glad you had a nice M&G!

Hey everyone! I just joined the forum. I live in CT. I was at the show last night and got lots of video.
Mary, sorry you had to stop taking video -- I guess I was lucky that I wasn't told to turn my camera off!
I wanted to stand at the beginning of the concert, but I think everyone had to sit (and the people behind me weren't getting up and I knew they were going to ask me to sit down, so I did before they could ask).
When Taylor came back from the encore, everyone I could see was standing and a lot of people were dancing. I was in the third row, and people from other rows ended up right next to me, standing in the aisle. I think the guards/ushers knew there was no way they were going to get everyone back in their seats, and it was almost over, so they probably didn't even try, lol.
I'll my video links in the Video section. Take the Long Way Home was so cool -- harmonica in the dark :-D

Oh yeah, a couple of funny tidbits from last night...during Lowdown, he said "all skate" and then "skated" during the song. At the end of the song, he said, "Makes me want to be at a skating rink" (or maybe it was, "makes me want to build a skating rink"). During another song, he was snapping and said that snapping is "a lost art."
I'll probably upload those videos to YouTube.
