This song is about a lot of things, but this verse is about the fans:

Oh, fortune and fame's such a curious game
Perfect strangers can call you by name
Pay good money to hear fire and rain
Again and again and again
Some are like summer coming back every year
Got your baby got your blanket got your bucket of beer
I break into a grin from ear to ear
And suddenly it's perfectly clear
That's why I'm here

-That's Why I'm Here, James Taylor
I'm hoping for a little blues as well as thumpin' bluesy rock...and some beautiful ballads......and some funky soul...........but I must confess that I hope at least one of the songs gets in a dig or two to Clive/Simon/Nigel/big labels and the media.

I know, I am a terrible person.Haha
Im in such a weird, melencholy mood--especially after seeing him perform for the wedding this morning. I keep picturing him when he used to have to play weddings--didnt he do that for a time, or am I hallucinating?? ermm

He said he wanted to do something "organic"...keeping it real...and I got really excited when he mentioned an acoustic album. Bluesy, soulful...and his harp. Im swooning over here...Heart

Whatever he is going to bring us, it will be so worth the wait, that Im sure of. I can just picture him going thru his stacks of notebooks, pulling out and piecing together tunes and lyrics. I would love to hear him re-record a song or two from IYT.

I guess Im just yearning to see his soul, the way I did when he performed "Levon", "DIMYP" after he was crowned as the idol, and after I read Heart and Soul...I kinda caught a glimpse when he sang this morning for the wedding...Im really missing him...arent a nut????Argh

(Of course, hearing him give it to the ppl who doubted him...that is just sweet justice...Devil)
I am hoping for one duet...with someone I really like!! Grin Male or female....but female would be better!
If there are any covers ,my dream would be Hollywood Nights,he does an amazing job with it ! I hope there are lots of originals on the new CD too !
I just love Taylor's voice and everything he sings touches me a different way. But to hear a really soulful love ballad would really knock me out. I'd also love to hear something really growly and rockin', something Seger-like, because I think it would really suit his voice. And for a cover, a full version of "Let's Get It On". THAT would make the entire Soul Patrol thud at once!

I don't know the technical term for it....but I love the sound of Taylor's voice as his own background vocal...either speaking or singing. He did it on TH a few times "that bass drum...." on Soul Thing and a bit on Dream Myself Awake "because". Also when he gave us a slight "huh" after "young crazies".

Anyway...it's HOT Devil and I'd like to hear it on the next CD! Interject a sexy spoken phrase somewhere.

Yes indeed. Devil Definately want to hear more of that.

Something Seger-like would make me really happy. Imagine him singing Night Moves. smog

You'll Accompany Me - everytime I hear it I think "Taylor could SOOOOOOOO cover this!!!"

Indeed. Grin
smog You'll Accompany Me would just KILL me!
I had a friend in HS named Bob and had the biggest crush on him. We flirted all through HS but he always had a steady GF and I almost always had a steady BF.
I got early acceptance into BC for the School of Nursing and he was planning on pre-med and becoming a pediatrician (plans later changed) and he beat me out on a local medical field scholarship....I nearly died when he told me one night at a party that he was going to BC too! Well.....we flirted our way through college, had separate groups of friends but hung out sometimes and invited one another to all our parties all the while never officially getting together. He liked Bob Seger almost as much as I did and used to come to my dorm room and borrow my Seger albums sometimes....he knew I always had the newest release.
Anyway.....we finally hooked up senior year when he was on a (short) break from his college GF. Nothing too Heat, but we made out for HOURS and I was in heaven. You'll Accompany Me brings me right back and reminds me of the 8+ year crush I had on Bob.

I've seen you smilin' in the summer sun. I've seen your long hair flyin' when you run. I've made my mind up that it's meant to be.....someday lady you'll accompany me. Ohhhhhhh yes......I can see Taylor with that one. smog
