Okay - thanks - am pretty much underwhelmed by their last album. Somehow putting a song on it that once wasn't good enough seems to make a statemen to me about their opinion of the general state of current music. Or am I just being cynical and reaching a bit

The LOVE album of remixed Beatles classics, very recently discussed at NESP, won a Grammy for Best Surround Sound 5.1 CD. Sir George Martin was not present to receive the award.
Very nice!! I just recvd the CD I ordered. Its a special edition CD/Audio DVD w/surround sound 5.1.
AH, I said I was going to burn a copy for you. Marg, did you want one too? Let me know.
Kim -- thanks ever so much, very nice of you!

but I have the LOVE CD.
The always adorable Vince Gill just won Best Country Album for his incredible achievement -- "These Days". Four CDs of original music, from traditional country to pop/rock.. duets with everyone in the planet. Whether or not you like country, you owe it to yourself to check it out.
The presenters were Ringo Starr and Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics. Vince says with a big grin. "I just received an award from a Beatle. Have you had that happen yet, Kanye?"
Hi Kim, I didn't see your first post and f.y.e. is getting one for me. Wouldn't want to risk them being annoyed with me if I didn't get it - might not do anything for me again

But really appreciate the offer

and if they don't follow through I'll let you know OK ?
Opps ! forgot what I started to do. MusicMaven did a neat blog for award show curmudgeons like myself

Music Maven's flow chart was cool but..
I'm a Grammy addict because
-- No lip synching. You get to see who has it and who doesn't. I remember one show in the 80s where every soul Diva I could name was strutting her stuff -- and poor Janet Jackson's voice was frail and thin.
Carrie Underwood did not have her low register last night, Fergie's glory note was excruciatingly painful. And Tina Turner was MAGNIFICENT. I wonder if Beyonce understands that she will NEVER be Tina.
-- I can shake my head and wonder why all those scruffy rockers in Foo Fighters have perfect blinding white teeth.
-- I can snuffle at the list of departed musicians, including two that lived right here in New Hampster (Brad Delp of Boston, Irish master Tommy Makem)
-- Sometimes you see hot new musicians that make you sit up and take notice: I saw Robert Randolph for the first time on the Grammys. Ricky Martin certainly got my attention.. This year we only saw poor Amy Winehouse (I'll take the three dancing men for Taylor, Amy can stay in London)
And Herbie WON!!!

And most "doesn't" - ergo my bleeding ears comment on MM's

Of course ! & Probably not.

They are called caps

Northern Maine in February - - no need for further reasons to snuffle

Amy beats the carp out of most of the winners I remember. & (not sure how that'll happen as long as Clive has a purse string to pull or a favor to call in for his lap dogs)
And Herbie WON!!!
And sometimes the planets align !
BTW.
Joan Armatrading lost in the "Best Contemporary Blues Album" category to the JJ Cale & Eric Clapton collaboration on The Road To Escondido
Hard to argue with that.
And if anyone wants to wade through the complete list of nominees and winners :

My own opinion on Amy Winehouse's performance last night.
I just felt really, really sorry for her. I'm not a fan but had to watch.
But the 3 dancing men brought some comic relief. They were great!
