Full Version: Bob Dylan on Singing what you believe

I was turning the dial and happened on Bob Dylan's radio show.. such an unmistakable voice. After playing the Blind Boys of Alabama Bob says (and I paraphrase from memory):

I get emails complaining about Gospel Music, because of the subject matter. I say if you don't like songs about religion, just enjoy the music. After all, you don't have to be a junkie to enjoy Velvet Underground's "Heroin", and you don't have to carry a pitchfork to enjoy "Sympathy for the Devil" by the Rolling Stones. I think if people are singing about what they truly and strongly believe, the music is elevated.


Bob is a wise man.

Plus, if Bob's singing, you can hardly tell what the song's about anyway. WinkHaha
He talk sings... but what a poet! Nice raspy, growly voice!
