I love Lionel Ritchie, but have always hated that song (it reminds me
of this couple that were regular customers at the bar I worked at
years ago. They would alternately fight or be slobbering all over each
other. Hello was their song and they played it incessantly on the jukebox)

I love Lionel Richie and I am happy he liked David's version...I loved it and downloaded it from iTunes (less than two minutes though). Of course Lionel stands to make some money if it's a big hit again doesn't he?

I always liked Hello but never liked the video...done with Lionel and a blind woman as the love interest. Who hasn't had a secret crush on someone and the words "I've been alone with you inside my mind, and in my dreams I've kissed your lips a thousand times" really hit home?
