But here is a wealth of goodies for The Ventures

The Ventures Original Members 1984

But this was my favorite - the drummer in my DH's band "back in the day" did a great Caravan and I would literally bribe him to do it

The Ventures Original Members 1984 - - Caravan
Yes it is long - - but worth it - Brilliant performance !

Just in - - my son tells me that Sirius Radio's 80's Channel just announced that Iggy Pop will be performing Madonna's song in her place tonight.

I've got nothing to add to that . . . . . . . . . . .

Well maybe this

I want to see John Mellencamp/Billy Joel....I looked on VH1.com and found zero info on the ceremony. Sad
The show tonight was on VH1 Classic - - the first post also had a streaming option.

It was really good - well with the exception of the whole Madonna section. Trying to be objective but really do think there was only a polite crowd reaction to JT's and Madonna's speeches compared to the entusiasm shown for everyone else and Iggy Pop was - well - Iggy Pop. One almost has to wonder if Billy Joel wasn't talking directly to Clive Davis tonight. Mellencamp said it like it is the way he always does and Tom Hanks did a great - one could say evangelical even - intro for the Dave Clark Five. Loved Joan Jett and loved the final song of the night with Mellencamp and Fogerty joining in.

NOTE: If you don't have the Classic channel and didn't do the live streaming option tonight,

the regular VH1 channel will air a special version of the event at 11 p.m. on March 22.
I watched (mostly with one eye) up until the Madonna portion and that's when I started really watching. Madonna looked really good - but was trying to figure out WTH she had on. I don't know much about Iggy Pop - but found that slightly interesting. Haha I didn't even recognize the first song he did. But I did listen to Billy Joel and John Mellencamp - John sounded really good and I was so happy he did "I Fight Authority". Heart that song. Then I had to go to bed...

Why doesn't VH1 air this in a normal time-slot? Do they not want people to watch it?
Amy: It was live.. so you can't run it any earlier than it takes place. The March 22 show may be "edited" to fit a normal broadcast window.

I agree with your general take on the show. I did doze off during the JT/Madonna speeches, and woke up with a horrible headache (perhaps because we went to Margarita's for supper, and I enjoyed some adult drinks?? Beer Drinking SmilieHeat ) but made it to the end.

If the intro to Little Walter was lifted from the Pocket full of Soul film, I look forward to the movie, the clip was very interesting.

Not only was Billy Joel talking about Clive/Clear Channel, etc etc, Mellencamp discussed his 13 yr old Jr. Golden Glove son, saying that in about 5 years he's going to bring him to NY to pound some ass, and "you know who you are".

Joan Jett was a fun choice for the DC5 Tribute!
Thanks for the info AH! I do not get VH1 Classic and I missed the whole thing. I read about the Justin/Madonna lame speeches this morning. I love Mellencamp. Will set Tivo for the 22nd.

In the past, regular VH1 has always aired this event....I have seen it a few times including when my hero (BS) was inducted by Kid Rock several years ago.
Oh, I realized last night's was live. I'm just surprised they don't rerun it like MTV does with their own awards ceremony - over and over and over again. It's just odd that a "special rebroadcast" comes on at 11pm at night that's all.

What songs did Joan Jett do? I didn't realize that I knew all the songs that I knew of the Dave Clark 5. Surprised myself.
Seger: I was sorry it wasn't on VH1 regular as well -- I scaled down my home cable a couple months ago, got rid of HBO and the "extra" stations, which wasn't a major issue until I realized I wouldn't have the RR HOF broadcast. Fortunately, we get all the stations at David's house, so I could go there.

I think that in prior years, there was never a live broadcast, only the "edited" one several weeks later. I know I watched it live last year, but I don't recall if it was on VH1 Classic, or streaming on the internet.

Billy Joel commented on how he had to be polite because the show was being telecast live. After a while he said "Go ahead and bleep me."
