She has mentioned Taylor in many of her blogs since awhile backGrin

"For those who believed the media hype that Taylor Hicks became a has-been once J-Records dropped him from their label, let me assure you that it is the start of many beautiful projects to come. In fact, Taylor Hicks’ next album will feature collaboration with Steve Cropper, member of Stax Records, Guitarist, A & R man, engineer, producer, songwriting partner of Otis Redding, Eddie Floyd and a so many other involvements and accomplishments it would be impossible to list them all here."

More on Steve Cropper and some of his music here: http://www.playitsteve.com/

Kinda like phone sex.....Haha:haha:Haha
Wonder if anyone has tried to get a count on the number of blogs that have sprung up ? ? ?

Sincerely hope she's right - - but would like to know if she has confirmation of what she is stating as fact - - or if she is making an assumption based on Taylor's comment during the Sirius radio interview from Graceland that he was going to be meeting with Cropper.
Remembering all the rumors from 2006 . . . . .

Think positive,think positive.......yes this is happeningRoll Eyes:rolleyes:

This site has been showing up regularly in my alerts.
It is a relatively young blog done by a long time member of the TH community that, despite a couple early missteps, is growing up nicely - -
lots of neat "goodies" on the sidebar - don't miss them.

Filed under: it's not what you say it's how you say it.
"So, we already know of possible collaborations with Steve Cropper of Stax Records and John Mayer, but now, according to a interview done by Modern Whomp Magazine during the Alabama Hall of Fame ceremony, Taylor informs us of other possible future collaborations. Read on... "

Lisa, if you think the power of positive thinking works then sign me up and tell me what to do. Grin

Besides hoping for Steve Cropper's involvement (is producer or co-producer too much to ask?)
and that some recording will be done at Stax Studio,

I've got a whole wish list from the 2006 rumors.

** John Mayer writing collaboration - - this seems to have a good chance since Taylor has mentioned it again wih respect to the new album.
** Some songs being recorded in the Ray Charles studio.
** Robert Randolph - possible writing collaboration or guesting on the album with his incredible pedal steel guitar playing.
** Bernie Williams - possible writing collaboration or guesting on the album with his wonderful jazz guitar work
Yes - that NY Yankees Bernie - also a respected musician

Am trying a direct link to his jukebox but if it breaks just click on the music tab on his site and launch it from there. He really is very good - - just my own taste but be sure you get past the salsa one before you judge all of his work.

** Angie Aparo - possible source of a song or maybe writing collaboration - he is a rather versatile writer and has written for a number of people - has his own big label story too - one song in particular stood out back then and still love it - Broken - he used to have a great version with some harp work up on his old website. Will see what I can find and maybe do something with him in Other Artists later - he's worth checking out just on his own.

Know there were other people / things mentioned - these were just the ones that struck a cord with me. Anyone else got a favorite "wish list " ? ?
I just gotta ask AH - did that list roll right off the top of your head? Or did you have it written down somewhere? confused

Steve Cropper is brilliant - - in any capacity he would be involved

I love JM's writing but don't listen to him - his delivery doesn't do it for me - - but love his guitar work - the stuff with Buddy Guy is very good.

The studios have been on a long time wish list - along with Muscle Shoals historical studios
The Fame studio is still in business - http://www.fame2.com/
some listening history - http://www.mtleon.com/muscle%20shoals/Th...0Sound.htm

The Original Site of Muscle Shoals Sound Studios is open for public tours and has been listed on The National Register of Historic Places.
It closed it's working studio doors in 2005 per a billboard article and no new buyer was found. The link has a video history of the MSSS artists.

Robert Randolph has been on my radar ever since Taylor sat in with them in early 2006 - have a couple of the band's CDs

Found Bernie's music when his name came up and listen to him usually once a week or so

Same with Angie Aparo - - not a blanket endosrement but like a lot of the songs he's recorded himself - - I have a live concert I listen to a lot and think I can embed in the other section when have time later

So not written down - - more like etched in a current memory folder

I had totally forgotten about the Bernie Williams reference many many moons ago - probably because he retired as a Yankee. Grin

I've not had the opportunity to listen to any of the others...except for John Mayer, of course. Maybe in my next lifetime...
My Mom absolutely LOVED Bernie Williams, so when she found out that he had a CD out, she made me go to the Barnes & Noble that I frequent so I could purchase it for her...

It is quite a FASCINATING album, and he wrote 7 of the 13 songs on it!

So if you like jazz, and/or Spanish music, this is a GREAT album to get!
I love Spanish music, so it looks like this is something I'll have to get for my collection.

One reason I love Taylor's song "West Texas Sky" is because it has that spanish guitar sound.
