I don't agree with the comparisons, but I do agree that Archuleta will be tough to market.
I listened to the ITunes Studio Recordings for Andrew Lloyd Webber week, and Archie's version of "Think of Me" sounded like nothing so much as a Stephen Bishop movie song from the 1980s.
(Stephen Bishop wrote "It Might Be You", was that the theme from Tootsie? If it wasn't that it was another movie..)

If TPTB didn't think Taylor was contemporary, this kid is a dinosaur. He gets compared to Josh Groban, but Groban is in that weird "pseudo-classical" genre that is apparently oblivious as to what's "current".
Maybe TPTB think that Archie will record whatever they give him, and he could be the male "Hannah Montana". That didn't work for Kat McPhee.
I love David an I love listening to his recorded voice (studio tracks) but I may never pay to see him live. IMO he needs to wow us next week....we know he has a great voice but he must take a risk SOON....same with Jason.
I actually hope David A. does not win....I think he is too naive and nervous and would not handle it very well emotionally (mother hen here). I hope David Cook takes top prize and I really do think David A. will get a record deal...he has millions of fans!

So, essentially, repeating what Mari said, David A will probably follow a path more akin to Clay Aiken. Remember how Simon kept saying that Clay was more suited for B'Way--and where is he now??

Besides that, Clay actually has a very nice voice and so does David. Andrea, I do believe he is a bit "mousey"...is that the right word? How about "squirrely". confused

Margaux, I love that you shortened his name to "Archie". That's rich!Haha

Thanks, Kim, but I can't take credit for inventing it.
My DHunny David (not one of the singing Davids) called him "Beaver" the first time he saw him on TV, after the 50s/60s TV show.
