Excellent Tricia!
I may not download too many IDOL
performances, but I do use ITunes, so am glad I can now contribute
to NESP through the purchases
I have downloaded Jason's
songs so far and really enjoy them

I enjoy that the downloads are full length studio versions, I think you get a sense of what the contestant wanted to do with the song.
For me this week's standout was Carly's "Blackbird". The recording is more true to the original spirit of the song, an acoustic folk ballad. She sings two verses in a lovely lower register, then brings it up a notch (and an octvave) for the last verse. Nice.
Ramiele's recording is a sweet teen ballad, which works for her voice and the song. Even Kristy is listenable, although I still find the arrangement horrible. On Jason's "Michelle" I like his vocals, the arrangement not so much, I can see why Paula called it a "polka".. this song should amble like a smoky night in Paris, not a hoedown in Houston.

ITunes Downloads - Andrew Lloyd Webber week.
The ITunes studio performances of David Cook and Syesha are not so different from the TV performances, and therefore are very very good -- this week's "Must Download".
The one I'd add to the list is Brooke's "You Must Love Me". It confirms my belief that this was a very good song choice for her, right in her range. While her performances have been disturbingly shaky, her recording voice is still very appealing.
Carly's "Superstar" is fine, but didn't excite me like her previous recordings.
Jason's "Memories" is better than the TV performance, but this is just not the song for him.
David A's "Think of Me" sounds oddly like a 70s/80s movie score song by a soft rocker like Stephen Bishop or Christopher Cross. And TPTB think Taylor Hicks is not contemporary!!
