I am too tired to vote tonight.....but....some random thoughts:
I am glad Jason did a Sting number but he needs to do something really cool and different SOON!
I've said it before and will repeat....David Cook deserves to be in the top 3!
Michael Johns really stepped it up!!
Carly was a disappointment for me.
Brooke was OK.
I like Chikezie's voice but I'm staring to wonder... is it only because I am a huge Luther Vandross fan??
David A. was in good voice but I did not know that song!
Kristy Lee or Ramiele should go this week IMO.
Seger -- For the most part I agree with you. And I didn't vote either.
I enjoyed Michael, Chickeze and Syesha. But Michael needs to move away from straight rock because David C is showing him up something fierce. He should move into stuff with a bit more soul, Robert Palmer could have been good tonight for instance
David Cook was in another league.. really the only stand out performance of the night.
I did not like Brooke's arrangement.. for me Every Breath You Take is a scary stalker song, you really need an edge. Sweet doesn't work for me.
Jason's song choice should have been very good for him, but I don't think he knows how to project, or use the mike, or something.. Simon was right, it was a coffeehouse performance tonight.
Carly didn't connect, she's tense and it shows.
Everyone else who sings something straight, it's a "throwback", when Kristy sings God Bless the USA with no originality, it's brilliant. A case of diminished expectations?
Simon was right about David A, that song is theme park or "Up With People". At least it was lively, but it didn't work for me.
Ramiele - was very pitchy. Did not sound good at all. Not impressed.
Jason - was OK, but he needs to sing louder at times. The band overpowered him (and I had never heard that song before)
Syesha - she sounded great. The song was just ok for me though - nothing wowing.
Brooke - I loved the start of it. I love her whole aura - she's just a cool chick. Her vocals were good but the arrangement could have been better.
Chikezie - his vocals were wonderful. Close your eyes and listen to his sing. Again, had never heard the song before.
Michael - I guess this was good. I sort of blanked out on it based on the song. It's not my favorite song in the world and I just don't see it as a performance type of song for a competition.
Carly - I enjoyed it. It wasn't my favorite performance from her but to me, it was as good as Michael's performance.
David A - I didn't like it. Why doesn't he ever do anything youthful? He's young! Stop with the "gotta have a cause" songs.
Kristy - how could the judges say anything bad about her song choice? I didn't like it.
David C - Give the man a recording deal now. That was fabulous. It was a cover of a cover - but he covered it with style. I loved it!!! I can't say enough about it - I want to hear the entire thing. Too bad I don't do iTunes.
Tomorrow night's bottom 3 should be interesting. I predict Ramiele, Kristy & Jason. Not sure who will go.
Oh - one other comment - Song choice was definitely lacking tonight. I kept thinking "Of all the songs you had to pick from..."
(voted a couple of times for David Cook - had trouble getting through too.)
I'm kind of indifferent this season. I would've rather heard the songs
that were discussed in this thread overall. Brooke, who I normally
really like bored me. David Cook continues to impress just with sheer
originality. Kristy made a brilliant song choice which will probably
save her for another week. Jason, who I adore, needs to wow them
soon. It was great tonight, Joe mentioned how they're all getting an
attitude early on and said "Your boy Taylor never seemed that way.
He's stayed the same even after winning. He seems more real-is
very entertaining to watch,etc."
Pretty much agree with all that is said above. Kristy really made me mad with that song choice though. How transparent !! Within ten seconds of the start of it I was fuming.
I agree with everything said also except I went and took a bath half way through I was very,very bored even Jason blew it last nite and wasen't crazy about Brooke.
I'm a little bummed that Chikezie is done. I looked forward to what he had to offer each week. I think song choice did him in.
What has to be done to get rid of Kristy Lee? I think I made the same comment during Season 5 with Kellie Pickler - but at least Kellie has a personality!
I was sad to see Chikezie go ! He really has a beautiful voice.Michael and David C were awesome .
Kristy's one of the plants, so you're not getting rid of her easily! I'd recommend WMD...
