David Cook was awesome. I commented to Amy during the show "Could Daughtry do that?"
I can't wait to hear Jason on the ITunes download, he has a great recording voice. I almost always think to myself, who is that again?
I agree with Kimberly that Syesha is a very good singer, but if you heard her music on the radio, you would not recognize that it is her. She was smart to pick a Mariah song that was not so familiar, so the comparisons weren't made.
The first half of Carly's song was absolutely beautiful. Her quiet range and lower register were gorgeous as always. She gets so tense during the "belting" section that her voice tightens. I blame Simon in part for all the head games he plays with her. He practically forces her to pick a song that he loves, and then criticizes her because she's not Mariah. No she's not Mariah, she's not Leona. Carly needs to stop giving Simon so much psychic power over her, and just sing for Carly. (from How to Win American Idol, by Taylor Hicks, Lesson #17)
Brooke had a great vocal sound, but she was seriously rushing the song. I did hear a few bum notes on the piano. This is one of the major drawbacks of having idols play their own instruments -- for all the good and bad about having the band , they will keep you on tempo! Obviously she was very nervous.
Kristy Lee needs to go home soon, but I'm afraid one of the other women will.
after watch AI last night...I REALLY MISS TAYLOR!!!!...he is just so full of life...although David Cook did make me cry...as he cried for his brother last night...and I also thought Jason Castro we very cool in a cool-jazz sort of way. NONE of them gave me that WOW factor.
All and all I think last night was a really good night,they all did a great job.I think Carly is simply amazing,but I believe she's gong to be the one to go this week.I think that Kristy is gaining in popularity and perhaps votes have been shifted to her. The way things have been going I wouldn't be at all surprised if it ended up being David Cooke and Kristy as the top two.I'm thinking the real shocker this season may be that David A,doesn't win !
None of them ask for votes like Taylor, Elliott or even Kat did on season 5. The show seems very flat this year...like a warm ginger ale that has lost its fizz. To paraphrase one of the hiyennas from The Lion King..."I just gotta have a Taylor Hicks fix soon!"
I did think Paula's comment about Ryan and Kristy made a cute couple was dead on!!!
Barbie - did you watch last season? I agree that this season doesn't quite have the pizazz that Season 5 had - but it's 200% better than last year! The talent is definitely there.
And, I have been wowed this season. I recall only one time of that happening to me last year - and it was when Blake covered Bon Jovi. David Cook seems to do that to me almost every week - and Michael Johns was taking me to that level but I'll have to just keep my eye on him off the Idol stage for the time being.
Thats who else I enjoyed--David Cook. I like the way he performed that Mariah tune.
Yeah, Mariah did have constructive things to say. She wasnt a diva last night--lets see about 2night.
Oh - and if I looked like her...I'd probably dress and carry myself the same way!
Man those two got alittle snippy didn't they! When Simon says Kristy would go home she shot back "well at least I made it further than the bottom 10"! That just made her look stuck up.
Sooo good to See Elliott! He made me cry at the end of his song when he held up his hand and it said "we miss you mom"!
