Oh my! That's unexpected news. I wonder how this will change things?
Can't imagine it would change anything - this guy is more rooted in pop than Clive. At least Clive had appreciation for some other music at one time in his career and spent time developing the artists he believed in - Weiss's track record is All about money . period .
Of course if other genres suddenly start selling like the pop-clone
crap music does then he would promote that too. Suspect the change in focus is going to be more about ways to deliver music than about what is delivered.

The 49-year-old Weiss oversaw several labels as president and CEO of the Zomba Label Group. He helped grow Jive Records from a small imprint to a major force with such blockbuster acts as Britney Spears, Usher, the Backstreet Boys, Justin Timberlake and 'N Sync. Recent successes include teen sensation Chris Brown and singer-songwriter T-Pain.
Given the state of the industry shake ups at the labels is inevitable - happens all the time in every business - everyone looking for the knight in shining armor to save their butts. As enjoyable as it is to see Clive out of the catbird seat, he really hasn't been dismissed or even disrespected - he has instead had what appears to be a new position created for him - Chief Creative Officer, Sony BMG Worldwide. Just another old horse (with enough inside knowledge to bury half of the industry PTB) being put out to pasture.
The story cochem posted on Boogie does concern me though - - will put it in another thread
