Billy The Kid -- Billy Joel Heart LOVE LOVE LOVE Billy Joel

///////////////////////

It's morning
I wake up
The taste of summer sweetness on my mind
It's a clear day
In this city
Let's go dance under the street lights
All the people in this world
Let's come together
More than ever
I can feel it
Can you feel it

Yes TH, me too, he's my homeboy!

Yours is Streetcorner Symphony Rob Thomas

If you feel that it's real I'm on trial
And I'm here in your prison
Like a coin in your mint
I am dented and I'm spent with high treason

Take me to the Pilot, by Elton John
and that's based only on the first line....

I'm gonna find myself a girl who can show me what laughter means
and we'll fill in the missing pieces of all those paint by number dreams

Sheesh...I don't think I've ever heard Billy the Kid by Billy Joel. Not sure if I find that funny or not...

I hadn't ever heard Take Me to the Pilot until Taylor covered it - and I decided that I don't really like it anyway. Even when he does it. Haha

No guesses for my lyrics? It's not that obscure...

Hollywood can be so lonely
Or make you the winner of a losing fight
The party is never over
Cause the stars are always shining
Doesn't matter if it's day or night

Could just keep listing some of his work like Peace Train, Wild World, Moonshadow, for some favorites -
and there is even a Taylor connection for you all - Cat wrote The First Cut Is the Deepest

Love Cat Stevens. And you reminded me of something I've been meaning to post for a while. I was listening to Pandora one Sunday and the Cat Stevens version of The First Cut is the Deepest came on. I had never heard his version, even though I knew he wrote it. I stopped what I was doing to listen to the song. In his book, Taylor mentioned that his first song, In Your Time, sounded very, very similar to a Cat Stevens song that was his favorite at the time. I think that's the song. Call me crazy!

Don't think you're crazy at all.
First Cut was my thought when HFoS came out - but wondered if I was just influenced by Taylor using it for Hollywood week -
so spent a couple of days listening to Cat Stevens songs - think Margaux did too.
I mean heaven forbid one use the obvious clues when you can drive yourself insane hunting for something more obscure blushing
Anyway after seriously overdosing on Cat's music I found I was right back where I started - - First Cut made the most sense.

With credit to Seger - - her Jackson Browne jogged my brain but think it might be a different song ? ( paint by number dreams is the hook Smile )

My guess is the song is Pretender maybe ??

********************************

New song - -

When I'm down and feeling low
And confusion has touched my soul
How I need some place where I can hide away

Let me fall within your arms
Melt away this cold I feel
All I need is to hold you tonight

Seger gets 2 points for guessing Jackson Browne, and AH gets 5 points for knowing it was The Pretender. Highfive

Take me to the Pilot -- I just love it whenever Brian Less does Elton. Pure piano love.
Throw Taylor into the mix and I'm gone.
Take Me to The Pilot is one of my favorite EJ songs. When Taylor did it in Cohasset I thought I had died and gone to heaven. LoriV and I nearly needed to be resuscitated!
I Heart Elton.

This thread has really made me realize how much easier it is to Name That Tune with the tune (first several notes) rather than the lyrics. When I listen to the radio, I can name the song before the words start in most cases....not so easy to read a few lines and try to grasp the tune. Is that true for you guys or is it just the way my brain is wired?

I know Jackson Browne has an "E" on the end of Browne....sorry I mis-typed it!

I'm the same way. For instance, I would say "Take Me To The Pilot" is a song I know fairly well, but when four lines of the lyrics were posted, there was only one that was the least bit familiar.

Music alone is probably a 50-50 chance for me - - well unless it's Green Onion or Telstar or ... you get the idea
It is of course possible to create mp3 bits of songs to embed - but a lot of work

Recognizing lyrics is all about the "hook" isn't it ?
For me first verse - or the chorus - of a song is usually the most recognizable
but sometimes words create a mental image that sticks with me ( like "paint by number dreams ")
or sometimes it is a powerful transition point - - in Marc Broussard's "Home" the passage I used is the *Gah* spot for me in the song - - if I forget everything else about the song I think I would still recognize that section.

Maybe clues would help.

And speaking offering a clue -
Since all of you are regular AI watchers (except me) I'm surprised no one got the song I put upthread - -
What if I had added - - -

An incredible moment from Season IV - - this performance still gives me chills

When I'm down and feeling low
And confusion has touched my soul
How I need some place where I can hide away

Let me fall within your arms
Melt away this cold I feel
All I need is to hold you tonight

Would that have helped ?
