You would think after 6 1/2 years, and going through a dress rehearsal, they would know how to pace a show. Ryan did say, at the beginning, we would not hear from the judges until after the SECOND song. Then the judges were called up. If they weren't prepared and messed up their words, shouldn't they be voted off?
I must say that except for the contestants being rushed, it was a bit refreshing to hear the entire first half without any judges whatsoever!
I did try to vote for Syesha last night, given who's still standing, a Cook/Syesha finale is the only one that makes sense. For two hours I had constant busy signals, only got through twice. I think Simon's dig to her at the end may have got people going.
I totally agree with you Margaux,I also would like to see Cook/Syesha.I think Cook will take the whole thing and David A will be the runner up though.Just don't think she has the fanbase built up.
I felt bad for Paula, talk about an uncomfortable silence. That was an akward moment!
I too liked hearing them sing without the usual jibber-jabber immediately afterwards.
I told my husband to hurry up and finish making his sandwhich, and get in here to watch Jason sing his songs, because it would probably be his last chance to see the "charming" Jason perform. (we both like his personality, but we think he needs to give it a bit more "oomph" when he sings.
Butting in for a minute.
Had to see what happened with Neil Diamond so recorded the show.
Lisa, if a noise woke you up about 1 AM it was me bursting into uncontrollable laughter down the road !
Unlike my complete distrust and disgust for R & S, I actually like Paula, but that verification of what anyone paying attention had already wondered about was priceless.
And please - - notes from watching rehearsal videos ? - right ! ... 'cause dress rehearsals are always Exactly like the show performance.
If had never done any theater and was willing to buy that then would still be ticked that those notes could affect the way the actual performance is rated. But it sure would explain some Wha ? ? comments wouldn't it ! !
Could watch this a few dozen times and still LMAO
The business of the Freemantle machine interests me so was keeping track of Carly to see when they'd tank her and it was rather brilliantly done. Push her to do Jesus Christ Superstar in a retro hippy outfit for a demographically heavily conservative AI audience - okayyy !
Quite a bit kinder than giving Doolittle "Nutbush" and then putting her in a hideous outfit and hairstyle - - of course they wanted her to just go away. Have to wonder if Carly isn't already working on an album somewhere a la Daughtry.
But I know little to nothing about these five - also don't know who here likes who - so if I step on anyone's favorite's toes - sorry - just giving my honest personal opinions based on this one show.
Worst to Best
Toss up for 5 - disliked both of them pretty equally - but slight edge goes to
Brooke - - triple sin of bad interpretation, boring and gratuitous vibrato on both songs - plus obviously not getting the point of I Am, I Said (smiling? - WTH?) gives her the bottom spot - decent voice but disliked both of her songs - - should be fine in a nice little oxygen bar with a baby grand somewhere
David A - - close second - didn't totally hate America (except that he did the cliche to begin with) - - but this is their anointed one ? ?
"the voice" they were fawning over when I was checking on Carly ? Really ?????
Must be looking for a metro-sexual Mini Me to compliment Ryan. Yes, DA is young but boring is ageless. ( and Ryan at least isn't boring )
Jason - - born about 40 yrs too late - needs to find a stuck-in-time coffee house somewhere and build a great little indie following
Really like his voice - - he should have been able to kill September Morn but it was sadly a yawn - - and yes he does looks stoned - but it works for him and his performance style.
Syesha - - think she did the second best job with her performances - but one word = generic - - nice voice - just nothing special that you can't find in most community music groups - - think Simon (?) even said something about her being theatrical - he's not always wrong - she made me think musical theater but not sure she's interesting enough in looks or style to be a headliner
David Cook - - only one that even belongs on that stage IMHO
Love that he obviously hunted through ND's catalogue and didn't take the easy Google path. I liked I'm Alive a lot better than the judges said they did - [must be those rehearsal notes] - - but All I Really Need Is You made me forget what Neil's version even sounded like !!
Tonight would be a great night for the "most shocking results show ever" and they give Archie his walking papers - - - but I won't get my hopes up for that one.
I shed many tears tonight. I don't think I even cried this hard when Taylor WON American Idol. I look forward to seeing her on the tour and hopefully putting out a CD full of music that she loves.
hi all! I haven't been on in a long while. In the time that I've been gone I went from being a huge DA fan (and Carly) to a HUGE DAVID COOK FAN! Carly remained my 2nd fave, but sadly, she is gone.

Oh, Amy....dry your tears. You really felt a strong connection with this girl didn't you! Maybe you can become a part of her fan community online and still support her?
I love Archie...I will most likely buy his future music but I hope he doesn't win.
