This event is going on the same weekend as the SP Convention, so hopefully many of the SP will be able to attend. It's for charity, and sounds like a lot of fun!

As it is an "invitation only" event, the charity cannot actively promote it through the media, but they have approved this post to be used. They are thanking the SP for our help in spreading the word.

A "Don't Want To Miss" Event! What a great way to celebrate
Mother's Day and also help mothers who are abused and homeless.

Taylor will be going on around 8:30 and will do a "soulful acoustic set". They will make "will call" arrangements to pick up tickets. The exact location of event is private, and will be on the tickets. If you are picking tickets up there, they will give you more info when you purchase the ticket. Dress code is "decent casual" (nice jeans okay, nothing ripped or cut off shirts,etc.). Cameras will be allowed. The will call windown will be open for later arrivals. Sloss is about 45 minutes away from the location. There should be plenty of parking, and I'm sure people wil be arranging SP carpools.

Harmony has extended their ticket sales until May 5th, due to
many requests, and increased interest in the weekend with this
latest opportunity.Grin[/align]
I think I know someone that maybe going to this but not sure. I wish it was me.
I am. Wink
Isn't Sat. the 10th the same night they have all the bands lined up for the convention? If so, many of those who paid for that are going to ditch and go to this charity event with the Gov. and Taylor instead?
OMG I am jealous and you'd better take lots of pics and if Taylor sings one of his new songs you MUST get a video!! MUST. PLEASE! smog
We're not ditching - just leaving a little early for this.

I'll try to get as many photos and/or videos as I can. I'm not sure what the protocol is at this particular benefit.
I think the timing is going to work fine. They're still clarifying all
the musician schedules, but I read somewhere last band started at
around 6:10 and I don't think their sets are long. Remember, the
Harmony festival starts early in the day. There may be some people
that leave early, but I think most will stay and leave when it ends to
go to the other event. A lot of people may not even opt for the Taylor
event due to price. There are also people that weren't going to the
Harmony thing that are now planning to because they're going to come for the other one. I think in the long run, all 3 charities will
benefit which is all good Highfive
Gawd a soulful acoustic set,Thud I am so over the top envious of you guys! Please bring home video and pictures I know you will be right up front in his face god love you.Grin OMG I read this this morning and I'm pissing my pants and I won't even be there.Haha Have fun you SOB'S..............Rotfl

There is no way to gloss over what is being done here. The Soul Patrol does not care about Hannah's Home. I am wondering if the Soul Patrol cares about Kid One or Make a Wish as the stampede from Birmingham to the Horse Farm continues.

I find this reprehensible. The way it was done ( secret messages to those who purchased Soul Patrol Convention upgrades ) , the way the Hannah's Home Charity was hijacked ( Oh , the SP will be in this area and would love to support your event, could we please get tickets, please, please ) , the way the Soul Patrol is so willing to ditch the bands and afternoon Convention activities so they can get to see Taylor perform are all indications that the Soul Patrol lacks class and moral fiber.
You can sugar coat it anyway you want....but the objective is clear: to heck with what is right , let's get Taylor.
It is obvious that you are all in Birmingham to see Taylor and anything else is just a convienent cover.

There are several people to blame and the major one is the MWM editor who has taken the SP hostage and made them act like sheep. The heads of the "We Here At Harmony" group who have taken a wonderful idea and made a mess of its organization and followthrough are victims of this individual but are adults and should have been aware of what was happening. The need to look good and important has overshadowed the good that the Soul Patrol can and should be doing. Taylor deserves better.

I think in the long run, all three charities will suffer , the Soul Patrol will suffer and Taylor will suffer as a consequence of his association with us. I am appalled.

Being trapped in this web of deception can not be pleasant for Taylor. I would think we would take his feelings into consideration before our own.

Just my opinion.
