Sorry the updates are taking so long. Major tech issues. My laptop is being really picky here. Of course, I just realized now that we had a business center with normal fast computer
Convention went well, everyone got to know each other. Small group as people were still arriving, but fun. Went to Marty's after
for drinks-it's a dive, but really friendly, welcoming, and had a great
time there just hanging out. Their webmaster asked us to send her
pictures for their site
The dinner and silent auction were okay. Open Door Cafe was pretty far away from the hotel (and we heard Taylor had played there the night we arrived-if only we had known...). Smaller than I expected. We were out on the outdoor patio which was nice, as it was a pretty night. Everyone just socialized and hung out-very pleasant. Nice to see everyone decked out too
The Silent Auction was interesting. They stuck us in "the bakery" (in New England we would call it the kitchen). Would not recommend Open Door for a dinner again. The food was good but limited. It would have been better for a Happy Hour. They didn't even provide a waitress for drinks, gave us paper plates, etc. Not that special for the money they charged. Silent Auction seemed like a success, especially a beautiful Taylor collage
and two awesome gift baskets for a "Night with Taylor"
Ms. Joni was there with some of Taylor's family, Bluz, and friends and came out to visit on the deck. That was a treat for all
Saturday was insane. Out by 7:00 to trek the 2 hours to Hall of Fame. Great place-full of music history and coolness! Walked
through an Alabama Tour bus, saw Bo and Taylor's displays,
and the kids were having a blast. Walking around playing their
harps and inflatable guitars with their cute back packs. Nice job
done by Bluz on this event!!
Ms. Joni did the unveiling.
The brick walkway is just getting started. Our NESP brick should be
in place soon.
The Right Place board had a beautiful stone
there.
Next stop Sloss Furnaces for the music festival. Odd venue at first glance, but the acoustics were great. It was outside, but covered, so when the rain storm hit we were still all set. Bands went on as planned, and all were great!
It was really cool to see so many of Taylor's friends in one place, and see them all in person
We'll have to visit their MySpaces to check out some
great music!
Rushed to the BBQ. Got lost and were up on some mountaintop in the woods in the dark knowing Taylor was due to start any minute. Hum the theme to Deliverance to get the idea
How many times can the SP say the F word in five minutes? A lot.
We then abandoned that for prayer instead, found the road, and got there minutes before he went on
The videos are going
to speak for themselves on this one, but he was with Brian on
keyboards and Jeff on sax, outside under the Alabama stars on a
cool farm. He was in a really happy mood-funny, cracking jokes, and
the music was amazing. (surprise lol). Bill was there-got to say hello to him. Very nice event
Soul Patrol was on their best behavior
After that on to the pub crawl, but the group went all different ways. I was too tired to deal with multiple stops, directions, etc. so just stayed at Ona's. Rest of the group was ending up there anyway. Many of the guys from the bands from earlier were there, Bill, Taylor's local friends, etc. all were hanging out. Soul Patrol filtered in throughout the night. Spoonful James played, and then Taylor walked in.
Had to make phone calls to alert people. I knew he wouldn't let the SP down!
These videos will be awesome. The media coming out of this day should be amazing!!
Perfect ending to the festivities
Tricia, will you format this post so it's not all over the place?I can't get it to align, as usual

for the videos. I hope you are feeling better.
(but, ooh, what a way to go
)
