The other thing that struck me is that none of the finalists are any good at being interviewed. Before they're released on the media in a few weeks, it'd be nice if someone gave them some PR training!

I caught David Cook's hometown interviews on Friday. He was quite personable and well-spoken. It could be like Taylor, he relaxes with the folks at home, the local disk jockey was teasing him about the events they used to do when none of the girls would look at either of them twice.

I echo Margaux and Mari's sentiments. Bad song choices pretty much all around.

While I absolutely love "Or So it Goes", it was the completely wrong song for Archie. You criticize the kid all season for choosing depressing, too mature songs and you hand him that. confused Cas and I were saying yesterday morning that they have not used any current songs this year (except the group performance of "Don't Stop the Music"), "With You" was not that time to start!

David C's performances were good, but not moving. I was talking to Mari on AIM while watching the show, and I will not type here what I typed to her when he started singing that damn Diane Warren song. censored I would have to delete my own post. Grin Though you know Margaux, "Places I've Been" might just work for David C.

No real comment on Syesha. She has a very nice voice and is very beautiful. She will do very well on Broadway!

And yes, at this point, isn't the show usually longer, or is that just my failing memory?

It will be a David/David final for sure.
Last night was one big bore for me. Guess it's the Jason withdrawalsHaha I'm pretty sure David Cook has won it (I actually
think he's been the winner for weeks). Weird to think it's almost
over already! Better than last year, but still not even close to Season
5 Heat
AH said Hadn't really watched the other David before - prefer to just listen after get an initial visual.
Found him even less appealing when was watching him sing - - there's something oddly uncomfortable about him that I can't quite put my finger on

I feel that too and it's not a good feeling I feel sorry for him in a way that he may and I repeat may have been and still is being abused.Has that sheepish scared look in his whole face expressions..Got that feeling about second time I watched him perform.Sad SadI really hope David Cook wins.

(tho I confess to a strange desire to have Cook recycle Places I've Been )

I don't have the same auto-disgust factor going for Diane Warren so many do - - the woman has written some good songs for a very diverse bunch of artists. So she has bad taste in friends - it's also a business - as Taylor has said a good song is a good song.
IMHO Place's I've Been is a very good song - beautifully crafted and with a touching message - she did well by Taylor and he sings it beautifully - but if he is going to ignore it then someone should be making use of it.

Liz - - I have watched everything I can find on Jason and think if he sticks with it this is someone who will be around for a long time - - don't know if you saw my post suggesting a mentor for him - - will try to get something up on Ellis Paul shortly - maybe will have time tonight.

Agree nothing was stellar for a Top 3 night but Syesha's pathetic attempt at Fever was an easy pick for me to get the "worst in show" ribbon - for once Simon's tired cabaret comment was right on point - and she missed the idea of the subtle sexiness of the song entirely taking it very close to sleezy - - but check at the bottom for the master of that.

Paris Bennett - Fever - - absolutely incredible - she modernized it without any sleeze and Peggy Lee would be a fan

The late great Peggy Lee - - with some visuals for your entertainment

Very nice jazzy performance by Ms Lee from the 80s

And for some "modern" versions
Not a Madonna fan but she did a good version - - definitely a PG13 - surprised ? Love her or hate her she did make some spectacular videos.

Fever - - Beyonce - - Live at Wembley - - so what is really being sold here ? the music seems completely incidental doesn't it ?
And just for the record - since I get it tossed at me sometimes - - the fact that I hate Beyonce's performance has nothing to do with my age - there isn't a time in my life that I would have thought this was anything more than an expensive strip club number

Just sticking it in here...DAVE WHITES.....insights to last week Rotfl
