Aww, Seger, focus on the fact that he'll be writing all NEW songs for us! Broadway is great, you do like 8 shows a week, a couple rehearsals, and the rest of the time is all yours. Or his, rather. Think of all the writing that will get done!
Plus, y'know, he's a short drive and a train ride away. We have four months to convince him to move to NE permanently!

Maybe he'll "Taylorize" the role, like he said.
Maybe he'll make it cool. We hope. I hope this leads to something...what, I'm not sure.
I'm glad for him-he gets to act again like his early first job days when he dressed up like the Easter Bunny! But, please no fluffy white wings.
When he said something about this angel maybe flying, all I can think about is Peter pan in tights flying over the stage with invisible wires! Please, no, Taylor!
While Broadway was my top guess, but not my top choice, I am more than a little surprised by the role. But it does allow him to spread his wings, so to speak.

He is a great performer after all and I hope the producers of the show do let him Taylorize it.
I do agree with Amy. He does his song and gets to work in NY for three months on his CD. I never expected him to tour until the fall or winter anyway.
I know there was some question as to why he's announcing it on the TODAY show in NBC. I think the show that chose the leads for this particular run of "Grease", called "You're The One That I Want," was an NBC show. There may be some tie-in.
So, who's going?

Is anyone checking out group sales?
This is like a feast...what day do I want to go?
I guess I should keep in mind that he does have a date in VA in August and will be in DC over the 4th.
But other than that, barring illness, I guess he's there...
I thought all the songs have been written and demos have been recorded in Nashville. I SERIOUSLY hope that he will be recording in NY this summer. If not, the CD will delayed and that's what makes me sad. I don't want to be a downer and I know as well as anyone how smart Taylor is with his career decisions.
I applaud Taylor for trying something new and taking a risk. I won't be going to see him live on stage but I'd love to see a tape of his Grease number. I'm just stunned....I totally imagined him doing a few acoustic gigs late this summer and releasing the CD in Sept. I think he will honor his commitments in DC and VA this summer....after all, they do get a few days off and an understudy fills in don't they?
Someone posted elsewhere that this is exactly what Clay did....recorded his CD while on Broadway. I just hope Taylor tells us when he has a deal and where/when he starts recording "the best music he has ever written."
Funny, I was just talking to my kids about Grease. They are into High School Musical and know about Hairspray (the movies) and I told them how very into Grease I was when it came out.....memorized the whole album and acted out Summer Lovin'!

Wow...you guys arent excited? Hmmm, Taylor doing musical theater in one of best loved musical of recent times? Yes, its a small part, but he will be the only "known" name among other unknown performers. I think this a great oppty to show how talented he in. Yes, I know its not what everyone expected, but we need to be behind him on all his endevours.
I went on the main website of "Grease" (you can get there by going to the theater's website-Brooks Atkinson theater) and there you can ck out different things about the show. One of the thinks I cked were the pics of the current cast because I wanted to see if the guy who plays "Teen Angel" is wearing fluffy wings--he's not, of course. He is, however, in all white. If you remember the film version, Frankie Avalon was in all white.
I wouldnt worry about the wings...Taylor is gonna put his own spin on the role. Im excited for him and ME...I think this is an awesome oppty for him to showcase his talent. I also love the idea of him being in the same area for just about the same time.
Please get excited? Please?
Is anyone checking out group sales?
Margaux, I think we need to plan! I have no time today to start the planning, if I did, I would. Stacey and I (and maybe Cas) are on board!
Is anyone checking out group sales?

And yes, its a quick and easy train ride into Penn Station then a quick taxi ride to 47th street.
This is awesome!
I could see my sister and I doing this and maybe flying down from Portland. Make it a weekend and I might be able to do 3 or 4 days...July perhaps?
