Ok heres my feelings and thoughts on this shocking news.I totally understand the seasoning process and he is SO well rounded and exposure issues and yada, yada, yada.Heres the part I don't get and it probably will sound selffish but number 1 I myself don't care for Broadway stuff and if I did attend them and saw anyone singing in whatever parts it would NOT grab me and drag me in.Like oh whos that person runs and googles it!,it wouldn't happen with me.Like I said its me.I love Taylor but I must say I don't think I would go to a Broadway show to see him ever.I much perfer the entertainer who is on stage with kiss ass band just ozzzing with emotions, moves, soulfullness, its such a deep connection for me,it really moves me,what else can I say.I will be happy for him, but it makes me feel like a step backwards for him only because of him trying that road out, it will make my road to him less traveled.cryingIt's like ok he's in New York for the next 3 months doing a musical BORING, soooooo I can carry on with summer plans and not follow so closely because censored HE WON'T BE TOURING THIS SUMMER.I will be patiently waiting for his cd to come out.GrinTo me the two don't mix on one hand Broadway/acting/musician/entertainer and the other musician/entertainer/songwriter/NOT ACTING/THE REAL TAYLOR . I wish him the best Heart and have NO DOUBT HE WILL EXCELL and I am a true believer
in nothing ventured nothing gained. But a little bit of the Woohoo has weakened. I'll be anxious to watch him on the Today show and to read everyone elses feelings .
Perhaps a couple of performances on some talk shows this summer...that would be a sweet treat. Smile
I can only do it if it's on the cheap, which is tough in NYC.
It's a big deal for a 10 minute appearance. But if it's the NESP summer gathering, that makes it all worth it.

Some brainstorming options

-- train from Boston (for those of us in this part of the world)
Meet Friday night in CT and take the Metro-North (do I have that right?) in for the matinee?
Metro-North is the only way to go to NYC, and it's the only way I'd do it. Drive to Old Saybrook, leave the car, take the Shoreline East to New Haven and the Metro-North from there to Grand Central (doesn't go to Penn, and Penn is creepy anyway). Enjoy the day, see the show. Maybe an overnight if it's a weekend.

If there's a Sunday matinee, I will host a Saturday BBQ at my parents' house. Just don't anyone go picking the first weekend in August, that's my sister's wedding. Roll Eyes
Mari, i agree that Penn Station creepy, but why wouldnt you take Amtrak from New Haven into Penn? Its way faster than Metro North because that the local train. Then from Penn Station you can either take the subway (if you are adventurous or doing it on the cheap) or, what I would recommend, take a cab for a few blocks. OR, if you are up for it, you can walk it!

Be adventurous!
I'm still in a little daze with this news and I agree with Lisa on two points....feeling a little selfish and wanting the CD and tour SOONER rather than later, and the actor/musical theater Taylor hopefully will not become his mainstay....he NEEDS to be with a band on stage and carving his own path in the music biz and in my heart I feel he will.
I am waiting for him to come on Today and if he is happy and excited (I'm sure he is) I know I will be happy for him. I want nothing more than to see Taylor HAPPY......and to hear him sing for the rest of my life!! Heart Heart Heart

I would not travel to NYC to see Grease only because the cost of flight or train plus food/ticket/hotel would not be worth seeing Taylor perform only one song IMHO. I wish him nothing but the best.....you guys know I love him!
While discussing this with David, I can certainly see where you guys are coming from. I only live a short train ride away to NYC, about 80 miles. I havent taken into consideration that you guys live in NE in my excitement. Barring the cost of the tix, I can go see him a couple of times. And , for me, this is a great show, a good oppty to accomplish 2 things w/one stone in as far as my girls go. They totally enjoy seeing musical theatre and love Taylor. And Im excited to share my passion for theatre and Taylor with them

Another thing that I didnt take into consideration is that David is employed by NJTransit (a locomotive engineer, to be exact). I will have no trouble "riding" into the city, no cost involved.

So, Im really sorry for being so short-sighted.

I guess my converation should be moved to the Mid-Atlantic thread.

I love you guys with all my heart! I just got all wrapped up with this annoucement.

Hopefully I can meet up with you guys, the ones who do decide to go.

Kim, not all all short-sighted and do not move this to the mid-atlantic thread! There are those of us who would be interested as a summer adventure.

Seger, we need to trust Taylor. He seems very excited about this. I don't think for a moment that he is going to abandon his real love. This is an opportunity, one which is seems he felt the need to take. And remember, he needs to make this CD at his pace, on his time. We are his fans, not his management. He was on a crazy ride for nearly two years. His life changed dramatically. Let the boy settle himself.

Remember what Taylor says - It's all good.

Well, Amtrak costs twice as much and doesn't run trains as often. I'm not that adventurous! Plus, it really does end up taking about the same amount of time. I have done both.

I can only sneak in today...(i'm@work)...but I agree Penn Station is great place to see the ciry. I come in either from the LIRR (LongIsland RR) or from Newark...and the subway pass takes you all over the city. Its a great way to go. Also by staying in Newark or LI the hotel fares are less too. I have my dad to stay with in NY...and he's a quick train ride north of the city. I think once everyone has chewed on this BIGNEWS it will be great. We've all wanted Taylor to be in noe spot for awhile...no place better than NYC. He'll be a great attraction himself....think of all the night clubs he can sneak into after the shows are over...(gotta run)
