Seger: I do share some of your misgivings, my first reaction is that this is a distraction from finishing the CD and a negative sign for a "serious musician" to do Broadway. But when I realized it's a 10 minute walk on part that allows him to get paid for living in New York for 3 months, I can't see the downside.

In the end, it's up to Taylor. He's not on a schedule to release the CD until it's right for him.

The country influenced album reference? I thought I'd celebrate quietly. Wink

I just wonder HOW country it will truly be.

A comment on the country thing. I've always felt that UTR was what I would call "country infused." Am I the only one who hears it? Maybe the country influence on the CD is no more than that.

You are certainly not alone. It's more obvious on the infamous "Nashville Sessions" of course, but my initial reaction on hearing the UTR songs was that it was southern-fried folk rock like a Steve Forbert, straddling pop and country. Which is not a bad market to be in, especially if he can get some traction in the alt.country, "Americana" or "Nashville singer-songwriter" market.

One of my favorite stations on the XM radio that came with my new car is X-Country which describes itself as "The roots of greasy, gritty, down-home country infused with folk, rock, and blues."
Artists You'll Hear --Dwight Yoakam , Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle,
John Prine, John Hiatt, James McMurtry, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Billy Joe Shaver,
Fred Eaglesmith.
Not bad company.

When the Eagles and Bon Jovi are putting out country records, you know where a lot of the audience for new music by old school mainstream rockers has moved.

Seger, don't feel you can't express your feelings! Huggy I admit
the thought of Taylor in angel wings all summer in a small part isn't
quite what I would have pictured. I think though that so many people
will be reminded of him and exposed to his talents Devil that he will
reach a whole different audience of fans. For someone that's trying
to do a marathon, it's a good move IMO He's always seemed to
enjoy NY too, and he's sure to meet a ton of people.

His comments about Idol were classy which I applaud him for. It
was weird seeing the finale clips. He's come such a long way since
then Woohoo

I was thinking we could aim for opening night, and then realized it's
around 3 weeks away Drool What are people thinking for dates?
Opening night would not be good for so many reasons. First, I think it's on a Friday. Some of us are going to Grace Potter that night, and I think that's the weekend of Stacey's sister's bridal shower. Late June/early July?

Liz, I was going to pull out that marthon quote as well. It truly think that his last CD production experience was not a positive one, in part, because it was so rushed. I think this time will be the antithesis of that. And remember, he's a bit of a perfectionist. And I think positive exposure for something he is doing is important. Heck, I've seen an improvement already. At least the photo on the People piece is very recent and shows him looking great!

One thought I did have though - I can't imagine Taylor doing the same thing for three months straight. I guess that he only does it 10 minutes at a time might help! Wink
My sister's stupid wedding has screwed up my whole summer. I should start whispering to Ted about elopment. I'm only half kidding.

I can do the second week of July, I think. Wait, when is that Brian Wilson show... *sigh* I could just quit my job and be free to stalk him most of the summer? Eh, maybe not... couldn't afford $71 tickets then. getlost
Let's try to coordinate with the NY/PA/NJ group too. Marcy,Louise,
Diane,Denise,Kathy,Candy? You in? Huggy

Brian Wilson is July 13.

The first wk of June is Grace Potter concert for Linda and I. Also going to John Butler Trio in August and would love to go to Widespread Panic in July but don't want to go to another concert by myself. So july would be fine for me. Kylee would love to go but won't be back till August so if kids are going (she'll be 18 by then) she would like to come.

Lori and I would be up for a road trip (just need to keep it cheap) and Kylee too if she's not at camp.
