I look back now and can only conclude it was some kind of mass hypnosis !
Two business types who were not into reality shows much less Idol - - voting until the lines shut down !

Not being able to text from our area was like waving the proverbial red cape in front of the bull - did I mention I'm stubborn ? -
so I had sent $$ for the Birmingham GoPhones project - figure those proxy fingers covered us for text voting.
DH set up the laptop to use the Dial-Idol program on the house line.
Office line was on speaker and redial.
And both DH & I were using our cell phones.

Good grief - reading that is making me cringe and want to plead temporary insanity now ! ! confused
I too had both cordless phones going and kept hitting redial. One phone had one of his 3 numbers you could call and the other phone had another. There were many times I couln't get through, but I managed to get thru and vote for Taylor 61 times that night!
People who know me couldn't believe I'd done that!
I was so elated when he won!

Rotfl Rotfl RotflPeeing my PJ'S as I RUN......Haha:haha:

I actually went to my office to vote. Didn't want Joe to know exactly
how far the obsession had set in Haha Plus, my office has four
phone lines. So, I had the four lines going, plus the cell, and could
chat with AI boards people at the same time. Had a great time, but
wish I'd had someone there with me so I didn't feel like such a nutjob
Haha Was it worth it? You bet it was!! Woohoo

When they announced he won, I was bartending. The Red Sox
Yankee game was in full swing, as was my boss's birthday party
plus the finale. That little room was completely insane at that moment w00tbounce No one got drinks for a minute or two-it was
hard to pour while crying cryingRotfl

I can only imagine if we all knew each other then. Can't you just
picture the NESP voting party? smog
I had a huge Idol finale party in my house. I supplied all the food, drinks etc. The only thing required to come was a folding chair and a cell phone for voting. We watched Taylor's peformances throughout the season and voted till our fingers bled. Smile
I too, had sent $$ for the Go Phones in B'ham and knew a lot of the people who were there. It was so amazing to have all those people together and voting like crazy ! We have no cell service in our area of Vermont due to the mountains. And my fastest dialing phone is our hard wired phone in our guest bathroom. So I stood, alone, in the bathroom and dialed for hours, until they shut down the lines. I kept thinking "Have I lost my mind??" Never before, and never after have I voted for a contestant.

I watched the results show, had a total melt down to the amazement of my stunned husband, who slunk off to bed.. or perhaps to call the people with the butterfly nets to come and get me. After Taylor won, I remember just standing and crying for the longest time. But I really felt I had made a difference in helping him win.

Reading the posts from my fellow NESP members, I think we were all in the same state during that time. No matter what happens in my life, I will always remember those months as a very special and interesting block of time. A time when I stepped out of my ordinary life to do something really, really, different.
Haha Duff, you're cracking me up. Voting in the bathroom, now that's dedication!Rotfl

Blues, those parties sounded like a lot of fun!! w00tbounce

It's really fun just reliving those frenzied times. I think he had us
completely mesmerized. ThudNice to know we had lots of companyHuggy
