Thanks AG. It was nice being able to see that one again.
We knew even back then that he was special!
I thought of another "dream cover" today....TROUBLE.
It was/is my favorite from Taylor's AI performances and I'd love to see him sing it live one day! Grin
I just discussed this with Margaux...

I heard someone doing a cover of Roy Orbison's Crying tonight on CMT and wondered if Taylor could carry that one off. I think I might like to hear him try. That would be a wonderful birthday present for me, too.
Crying - - interesting idea - -

Think Taylor could easily handle the vocals and kill on the falsetto part especially  - -

but he'd definitely have to " Taylorize" it big time to fit his style and also to avoid the karaoke label for such a signature song

was a little surprised by how few covers of it I found but after listening to some I realized it's just one of those songs that is really hard to change up

a version by k.d.lang was the only one I found that succeeds in creating an original sound - -  after a few listens I am thinking I prefer hers actually
her Live By Request album - track # 5
http://www.rhapsody.com/kdlang/livebyrequest

there is one of her on YouTube but that is a tribute to Roy Orbison - not the same version
If you saw the videos of Taylor at Buddy Guy's Legends club in Chicago then you know who Shemekia Copeland is - - if not then you have a treat in store with this sample of her work - -

click on " Who Stole My Radio" after the jump  - - - -  strongly suggest skipping the other one Sad

maybe done as a long tag a la " Another Brick in the Wall " rather than a full cover but this is such a dayyam good song plus a great slap at the radio industry - and can just see Taylor punctuating the air with that finger pointing bit he does - - - - -

" I wanna know, I wanna know  Who. Stole. My. Radio ?  - I want passion, I want feeling,  I want to be rocked from the floor to the ceiling" . . . . . . . . . . . . .

- - - or maybe it's just because I have been listening to Ms Copeland  about every other song I've played for the last couple of days - -
will go put the rest of the album in the general music place now - - there's a lot more good music to be heard
On the very slim to nothing chance that this will do any good at all

Anyone care to join me in pathetically begging for

A Day In the Life

to be permanently added to the summer tour set lists ? ?

( where's a pathetic looking begging smilie when you need one? )
Heres a gem I just heard today on the radio by Robert Palmer. I looked him up on rhapsody and they have him under blue eyed soul. Here it is

Yes, yes and yes!!!!!

I wonder if Taylor has ever heard the Dropkick Murphys? I love to hear their "Tessie" at Fenway...it means the Sox won. They used to play "Dirty Water" after a Sox win, now it's "Tessie". I have the souvenir single that was sold after the 2004 world series season.

Tried to let him know about Dirty Water early on through myspace
and HQ for Avalon, but either got lost in translation, or they didn't want
to do it...It would be an awesome NE choice (hint, hint) Huggy
