Hi everyone,
I would like to ask your opinion on the charity for the Concord, NH and Portland, ME shows in August.
1) Do you think we should do the same charity for both?
2) If so, which one? If not, which two?
3) We could use a volunteer to contact the charity(s) and gather information. Anybody want to do this?
4) I would like to get the PSA'S (Public Service Announcements) written by mid June for these as it takes at least 6 weeks to get them out and on the air.
Feel free to email me at karen@newenglandsoulpatrol.org with any questions and suggestions.
Thanks for your help!

We might get better publicity if we did one in each area. We'll have
enough time to raise cash before the shows, and it's nice to get his
name out in both places. I'll definitely help contact them, maybe
Margaux and Tricia know one for Concord? I think Margaux and Amy
already found a good one for Portland if I remember right....

I'll do some thinking and put up some ideas..
Thanks Guys!
I'd like to have something by next week as I'm meeting with the promoter of those two shows.

Do any of you NHers know anything about this one? It's a music
school that does camps for kids and programs for the community
that looks like it might be cool. Maybe we could do a Taylor Hicks
campership for a couple of kids depending on cost, or donate some
harmonicas or something?

To keep it closer to Concord, we have a community music school here, that includes jazz and classical ensembles. We could look at the Lakes Region camp if Taylor ever goes to Meadowbrook...

look at the Music in the Community Initiative.

The school might also know talented scholarship kids who would love to go to the concert...
The other thing I am thinking of as a Concord-based project is donating concert tickets to the Concord Friends Program (similar to a big brother/sister group), so kids and their "senior friends" can go to the concert!

I like your idea of sending kids to concerts - - will check the links when have a little more time - -
I like the idea of sending kids to a concert too...Maybe we could
have a contest where the kids write in why they'd like to go and pick
a couple of winners for the tix and put the rest of the letters in a book for Taylor? It would also give exposure as we'd have to put an ad in the paper to tell them about the contest. Maybe the paper would
publish a couple of letters too...(lol and maybe the kids who didn't
win could guilt their parents into taking them anyway

)
UHad,
Really love your idea - -

Is that idea better than connecting with local organizations?
My thought was that the music school would know kids that are taking music lessons, that can't afford to buy tickets and would really be inspired by the concert. And maybe we could wrangle a meet n greet for them.
I don't hold out a lot of hope for the local paper...
