We would like to say thank you to the fans who have already ordered the first batch of harmonicas! We started this a few days ago and already have 26 harps for the kids in the Alabama Blues Project.
Our goal is to have 2,000 harps for this project by the end of November just in time for Christmas.
With the awesome help of the Shelby Harmonica Players Society (SHARPS) and local harmonica musicians, mini workshops will be given in the schools during the first weeks of December introducing the children to the harp.
We are also giving a set number of harps to the Alabama Children's Hospital during that time which will be gift wrapped and will come with mini teddy bears just for the little patients. We have harp volunteers who will give a mini workshop introuducing the instrument and a song.
We are doing this in the spirit of Taylor and helping him realize his vision of being an Ambassador of music to the kids!
THANK YOU SOUL PATROL!

Bluz, don't know how I missed this thread before but glad I saw it today. Love the project and will be happy to support it - never know what a simple $6 investment may inspire in a child.
" The goal of Pawz For Music is to educate children of all ages about the blues music and preserving the blues music as a traditional and contemporary art form through interactive programs that educate and entertain."

We now have the "Magic City Blues Society" of Birmingham, AL on board with us along with musician Jason Ricci to help us with this very important harmonica drive for the children of Alabama.
Jason will be performing at Zydeco, located in B'ham on Sept 12th starting at 7:00pm. He will be accepting new harp donations which will be given to the Alabama Blues Project for distribution to the schools. We have some cool door prizes we will be giving away to those who donate.
If anyone lives in the B'ham area and wants to hear a true blues musician, check Jason Ricci out.

Isn't this guy amazing? He's a kid himself....in his early 30's, doesn't look anything like your typical blues player and kicks a$$ on that harp! His voice thunders and kids love this guy! Jason works with John Gindick alot doing Harmonica Jam Camp workshops. I would give anything to have this kid at our jam but he's on tour right now and will be in Ohio on Oct 5th. Jason is also featured in the movie "Pocket Full of Soul" with Taylor.
We will be putting Jason back up on Centerstage next month along with his YouTube videos. It's exciting working with him.

Not only are we receiving support for the harmonicas, a company donated 1,000 backsacks to us for the kids! Each child who attends our jams get a backsack that includes a harmonica, instruction workbook and other donated items.
Together we are building bridges of music

Jason's show at Zydeco was a success

The crowd was small probably because of hurricane Ike demanding attention, but we collected harps and donated a portion of his cd sales to our cause which is great.
We will be in Birmingham the first of Oct for our harmonica jam and will be planning another event with a venue to further benefit this wonderful program.
