Hello, all!
Got back from seeing Taylor in "GREASE" for the first of 3 times (who knows - maybe I can get Dad to go see it with me, and make it 4!!!)...
I had my aunt Marty, my Mom's sister, with me today, and it was her first time in NYC at LEAST 30 years, as she and her late husband moved frequently...
Marty currently lives in Naples, FL, and wants to move back up to CT, as this is where she grew up...
I took Marty to Sephora, Toys-R-Us, and the Virgin Megastore before we got lunch at T.G.I.Friday's (which is NOT CHEAP!!!)...
She had the "Cheeseburger Sliders" whilst I had the "Parmesan-Crusted Sicilian Quesadila" along with an Iced Tea w/extra lemon and a Strawberry Lemonade Slush...
We got to the Theatre in plenty of time, and let us in pretty much at 1:30, which is 1/2 hour to show-time...
Marty & I had seats in Orchestra Left, Row P, which is the next to last row, and the view from the seats were FANTASTIC!!!
As far as I could tell, the matinee was sold-out, except for the seat that was to my immediate left, but some-one sat there for Taylor's number then left sometime after that...
So at least she saw the important part!!!
The show was really fun, I thoroughly enjoyed the guy who played Kenickie, who I last saw in "The Wedding Singer" as 'Sammy' the dumb guitar player, which was the role that Constantine Maroulis took over...
There were times when I saw shades of Jim Carrey with the guy who was 'Vince Fontaine'...
I thought that Kirsten Wyatt/Frenchy was absolutely ADORABLE!
I last saw her at the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, CT in "Sandy Wilson's The Boy Friend" directed by Julie Andrews (which was HER Broadway Debut in 1954)...
I really enjoyed the "Greased Lightning" scene and the transformation of Kenickie's POS to "Greased Lightning"...
For those who have not seen this yet, there is NO car race a la "Rebel Without A Cause" like in the movie we all know and love...
Now comes "Beauty School Dropout"........
PERFECT for Taylor, who has TOTALLY EMBRACED the cheese, especially with some of the poses that he was doing while decending within the Ice Cream Cone...
Marty loved Taylor while he was on AI, but never voted for him.
I gave her "Taylor Hicks" for Christmas (as everyone was doing
in 2006)...
I was going to get her a ticket to go see him at one of the FL concerts, whichever one was the closest to Naples, but unfortunately, she already had plans for those nights...
So this was the FIRST TIME that she had ever seen Taylor LIVE, and just wanted you to know that she has succumbed to the WOO that Taylor exudes...
Before I forget, Taylor was the first one out this afternoon to sign things for the fans...
Marty & I left shortly thereafter...
We were walking towards the Subway station, and Grand Central Terminal so we could catch the train home, Marty told me that she totally went
and
!!!
Marty was also surprised to see how TALL Taylor actually is!
So, with no further ado, here are some pictures:
