Will add to this as I find things that may no longer be shiney new but are a good resource that would be a shame to lose.

If you have something you would like to add just PM me with the information and the link.
This is an amazing place to get lost in when you have some time and are in the mood to experiment.
A wander through the offerings convinced me this is a fascinating collection - so far have found only two I remember but that's kind of the point I guess - -
Those of you who have a lot of knowledge of 80's music will have a great time.

BRINGING 4GOTTEN TRAXXX BACK TO THE MASSES!

We're posting audio versions of long-forgotten music from the 70s, 80s, and 90s for your listening pleasure. We tend to focus on songs or versions that either have no existing video or one that is not posted on YouTube, and/or are out-of-print, rare and difficult to find.

WE PROVIDE THIS SERVICE FOR YOUR LISTENING PLEASURE ONLY, any copying, reproducing or downloading is strictly prohibited. We do not trade or sell mp3s, so don't even ask. All of the items pictured come from private collections, and they are not for sale.

Our purpose is to highlight songs that have been unjustly ignored over time, to reunite fans of these long-lost artists, and to hopefully generate enough renewed interest in these past classics to inspire the music industry to offer these songs for sale as legal downloads or reissue these them as compilations.

ENJOY AND REMINISCE!

Heard about this on NPR today. I was listening to a "Best of Fresh Air" where they were playing Terry Gross interviews with Stax pioneers. They were promoting this special which will be on the PBS show Great Performances.

Thought you all might be interested.

Spoonful James - background info
Opening bands! - Posted At: 08-02-2007

Spoonful James is the name of Wynn Christian's band - he and Taylor have been friends for many years going back to Taylor's time at Auburn - - they sat in with each other and even played together for a while in one of Taylor's early bands, Fletch Lives

" A few months later we put together a random group, consisting of players from three different bands, to play Tuesdays during the summer at Bottcher’s. Appropriately enough, we called the band Fletch Lives. If my memory serves, we covered everything from Jimmy Cliff to the Grateful Dead that summer."

Additional tidbits

remembered Spoonful James opened for Taylor early in his Spring tour too
had to go find out where - it was in Columbus, GA - - nice article btw

also found the Taylor connection for the band that just opened for Taylor in Branson - Adam Hood -
seems Patrick Lunceford - the drummer that played with Taylor in Passing Through - now plays with Adam Hood

from his myspace
" When I'm not touring with Adam Hood, I play with Spoonful James, Wynn Christian, Tony Brook Band w/ Jaime Lyn Barber, Sam Stone, and, occasionally, Taylor Hicks. "

I know a lot of you use it, but just in case you have not heard of it http://www.pandora.com is a great site.

You can make a "station" of your own and play all the kinds of music you love on your computer. I just put in "Grace Potter" and now I am listening to her music and the music of other similar artists. I have "stations" for lots of different kinds of music, including Taylor and big band and Elvis. I can tell Pandora to play them all and I have a great mix of music to listen to while I work !

And just 'cause I like blurbs from the past - in reference to Grace Potter's CD featured on the old GC website with ordering link to Laser's Edge - Duff also said

" OK and Gray is donating $$ to the Waitsfield VT fire dept. too. LOL
AND if you have not ever ordered from Fred at Laser's Edge, please consider it. His small store is a magical place for all who love music. And he is one of the nicest guys ever. I was one of the first people to find his number and call him for Taylor's "Under the Radar".. maybe back in Feb. during AI. He was amazed that I was calling from Vermont and we had a great visit (little did he know what events were to come about !). During the M&G at his store, Tom and I chatted with him, and in all the chaos, left him some free pint coupons from Ben and Jerrys. He made a point of tracking me down to say thanks when he found them on his desk a few weeks later. "
