Hello!
Fairly positive that I might have mentioned this in the past, but I have been unemployed since early March...
But as the Thread Subject states "Good News," I am thrilled to say that I have a new job!
I am now employed with Stop & Shop as a Pharmacy Technician, and I started the job on the first Monday in August...
It is part-time, which is WAY better than nothing...

Gretchen, You must be so relieved and excited!! Congrats!

Maybe it will lead to full time soon, as we know you'll do a great job!

Congratulations..
At least around here they are building a pharmacy on every corner, it's the only business that's doing well, so if you like it, you should be able to find full-time work with no problem.
That's excellent Gretchen!

And Margaux is right, it seems to be the field to be in these days.
Excellent, Gretchen!! xoxo

Great news I'm so happy for YOU! I have a friend and a cousin who are Pharmacists and they say they can't find enough help.I have no doubt it WILL turn into full-time.

Gas stations and convience stores seem to be the trend here in P.I..
Congratulations, Gretchen! I did that exact same job for a while and it's excellent. And you're guaranteed to never work an overnight shift

You go girl! That's great news. It's hard to be home all day I can't wait to find something, I'm hoping the move next weekend will help. Boston here I come.
Thanks, all!
It is SUCH a relief, knowing that I have a JOB!!!

The head pharmacist told me that even though being a Pharm-Tech can be a dead-end job (at least there), the potential of moving on to a different department within Stop & Shop is always there, as long as they like me, and my work is really good...
What is cool about Stop & Shop, is that even if you are part-time, you get benefits!

But the down-side of that is that they do not take effect until you have been there at least 12 months, I believe...
COBRA is majorly
.gif)
as it is costing me almost $450 EVERY MONTH, and that is totally fun, especially when you have absolutely NOTHING coming in money-wise...
So now I am going to be looking into ConnectiCare, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and a couple of other sources to see what their Individual Health plans cost...
If not regular health-care, at the very least, Major Medical, so on the off-chance that I have to go to the hospital, THAT will be covered...
The Union dues are not that bad, either...
The Initiation fee is $75, but they take out $12.50 a week until that is all done, and it is $7 thereafter...
