Quite some time ago, Caryl won the phone call from Taylor on HQ. She finally received that call and blogged ALL about it!

You can read about it here. She did a great job! Smile

* I posted this video Of Taylor Hicks photos/video set to Sam Cooke's Mean Old World because of the following answer he gave to a question from Caryl in her recent interview she won with him.

Taylor: But you know what's great. An album I was listening to this morning...Sam Cooke, Night Beat. There's a song on it called, "Mean Old World", a very cool, haunting number. During the "Somehow" time period I was listening to a lot of Sam Cooke. So I guess you could say it inspired "Somehow". You should look for it: Night Beat and the song, "Mean Old World" *

I like JCitySoul's videos-they're always cool! Glad she saved us the time of looking for it-I'm feeling lazy today Haha Thanks for bringing it over Huggy
If you would like to have a listen to the whole album
you can take advantage of Rhapsody's free 25 full song listens per month here: . . . http://www.rhapsody.com/samcooke/samcookesnightbeat

Have been listening to the album and it is superb ! !

Thought I had gone through all of Sam Cooke's albums on Rhapsody so am surprised I don't seem to remember this particular set - but have several of the songs on a playlist so maybe it has just been a while.

Sincerely hope at least some of the tracks on Taylor's next CD have this - it's all about the vocals - quality - - - I'd be happy with all of the tracks - but know some people would prefer more of a mix of style and tempo and I would like that also - - as long as the vocals remain front and center !

NOTE:
A remastered version is available on Amazon both as a CD and as a mp3 download.
There are also originals for sales by individuals.

Please use the NESP Amazon link on the left of the Forums screen if going to buy Smile

Liz - - pretty sure you wouldn't have found it earlier.

it popped up as a new add on the home page when I went to look for Sam Cooke doing Mean Old Blues - - when I tried a search with Taylor and the song -
the only one that came up was her new upload. Didn't find a Sam Cooke one btw.

And forgot to say this in my first post - got sidetracked by finding the video . . . .

I am so glad that Caryl was the one that won the call - she has a perfect forum for sharing her experience. She's a good blogger and did a great job with both the call and her write up.
Kudos and for her.

Caryl did a marvelous job. And thanks for finding the Sam Cooke song, I was hoping someone would Heart
I am very happy that caryl won the call....these things happen for a reason and she is indeed a great writer and cracks me up on a regular basis.

I stated in the OK magazine thread that "life is too hard to go it alone" and listening to this great song (Mean Old World) reinforces that sentiment.
