So today I felt inspired to finally finish a song I've been working on for ages, and I thought I'd throw the MP3 up here for you all to listen to (and enjoy?). No vocals but I will put the lyrics and it's not too hard to follow along with the "doo-doo-doo" of the synth voice. 
Insight into my songwriting process on this one. Years and years ago (well, not that many) I started writing the song. I got most of the verses and all of the themes (several different melodies in this one), and then I got stuck. Then about a year and a half ago, I was working on a fanfic on TMS and wanted to have the female character and Taylor work on some songs together. This song jumped out at me, and all of a sudden it was a duet and I rewrote the second verse and added a bridge. But it didn't have an ending. I suck at ending things, and sometimes you can't just repeat the chorus and fade out.
Today, I am reveling in having both free time and a quiet apartment. I pulled the song out (among others that I need to work on) and listened through a couple times. I threw down some experimental chords. And then I realized that what I really wanted to do was lay out the la-la-la section again, but with a new part overlaid. Ta-da!
