Now that I got your attention LOL

I have mentioned this before, but when a member said she had only heard Taylor once in a store I had to share this.

When Taylor was on AI and the final shows were on, a member said let's each send Taylor a lucky dime since he had mentioned having a lucky dime. Even though I wrote a lot of fan mail (I never had done THAT ever before shocked) I was way too busy preparing for Easter to do that. I dashed off to the grocery store and there, on the sidewalk, glistening in the bright sun, was a shiny new dime. Of course I picked it up and mailed it off to Taylor for good luck ! How could I not, after finding it like that?

That was the first of the "found money". Routinely, I would find coins, pennies and dimes mostly. Now we all find a penny on the sidewalk every so often, but this was more than that.

One day while doing errands with Tom, I was riding and pondering whether to go to Birmingham to see Taylor and LiMBO. I decided (in my mind) that if I found money that day, it was a sign I should go. Tom made an unplanned stop at Rite Aid. I opened my door and stepped out and there was..... yes... a shiny dime. No kidding.

My friend and I went to Birmingham and as we got to the Tut Hotel, there on the front walkway, stepped over and unseen by dozens of people, was a shiny penny.

Over time, I'd go to the grocery store. Any time of day, early, late, walk in and hear one of Taylor's songs on the store's "radio" and know, before I got back in my car, you guessed it.. that I'd find a coin or two. Tom has gotten immune to me handing him coins. I have my cup holder in the car half full with pennies and dimes.

On the trip to the Big E, our friend found a $5 bill. When Tom and I took a shortcut across the motel parking lot I found a pile of pennies, maybe 11 or so, just sitting in a pile on the blacktop.

Now, I am not going to get rich finding pennies and dimes, but I will tell you it brings a smile to my face each time I find one. I find myself saying "good luck Taylor" each time it happens.

And, I sometimes wonder what he thought when he got all those dimes in the mail and what he did with them !!
Wow, Duff! Thanks for the cool stories! Amazing but true!

When I find a coin, I always pick it up and read the date and think it must be significant in some way.
Sometimes it's the year I graduated, sometimes my wedding year or when one of my sons was born.

When I was an early teen I too, like Taylor, had a "lucky dime". At least in my mind at the time I liked to believe it was lucky. Well, I got quite attached to it, but one day I lost it down the bathroom sink drain! (Horror!). I cried and made a fuss, and my father who was so kind, seeing how much it meant to me, took the pipe apart and rescued my dime for me! (It was caught in the trap thingie)

My father died when I was 16 from cancer, and once over my adult years I left a dime at the base of his headstone when I was visiting. No one else would know what it sybolized, but I would and he would.
I have to respond to your post TayBea. I ,too, always pick up coins when I see them . First I check to see if anyone is around that might have dropped it ( my training as a child , not to take things that don't belong to me ) and if no one is visible, I wish on it and clutch it tightly in my palm until I can deposit it in my coin cup at home. Have collected quite a "fortune" this way and I am still superstitious enough to think that my wishes do come true . Of course, my wishes are not things that are impossibilities , so most often they do come true.............. I am not going to foolishly waste a wish on something impossible to achieve.

Anyway, my father also died of cancer when I was 15 and I was touched by your story of putting a dime on your father's grave. I don't live close to "home" anymore, but the next time I go to visit his grave, I , too , will leave a dime . Thanks !!!!
Love both your stories.

Duff - maybe there's a Concert Fairy - who has a really bad idea of what things cost but is trying to help Tongue

Cool stories! Nothing like that ever happens to me Tongue
I am touched. Thank you all for sharing.
I very rarely find coins on the ground.
The only deja-vu type thing that happens to me is when I listen to my iPod either at home on it's dock or on my walks (I try to walk 5X each week), as soon as I start thinking about Taylor for any random reason, a song comes on (shuffle mode) that reminds me of him. Not a Taylor song, but a song by an artist he likes or a song that has a connection to him in some way.
Nice stories Huggy Bea, your dad sounds like he was a real sweetheart Heart

My mom is always finding pennies-she's almost 80 but she gets so excited when she finds a "lucky penny" w00tbounce

I get those IPOD moments too. The best was one night I had just taken a walk on the beach after a really long and crappy day. It was dark, and I was feeling discouraged overall. I had it set to shuffle for
songs and guess what came on "sometimes we get weary, and find ourselves alone, in a world filled with darkness..." I immediately felt
better Highfive

Awww... what a sweet and touching story Bea !

I always seem to find coins laying on the ground. I put them in the big yellow jars I made for A Baby Center. I have one in my office, and one at my house; and add loose pocket change, and bottle deposit money too. When it gets full or close to it I take it with whatever donations I have accumulated to A Baby Center.
I just love helping them out Huggy
Thanks everyoneHuggy
