re: the fidgity - - guess I was comparing to earlier interviews when he could hardly sit still at all even in radio stations without a crowd :]
I think that Taylor is one hell of a man, simply put. I love where he says he doesn't study looks so much as he does the soul.....yum...

.sure enough knows what to say, doesn't he? LOL! Susan
What you see is what you get?! Promise???

Seriously, I wonder if anyone here would be willing to show their age and let us know firsthand what it was like when Paul McCartney married Linda? Of course, there was no internet back then, so it wasn't nearly as... um... cuckoo.
It was absolutely revolting. They had a quiet private civil wedding at the registry office down the street, during which time a mob of angry fans descended upon his home and and had to be sent off by the police. I would say the majority of fans and press hated the fact that Paul had married Linda, and ridiculed her for her singing voice, her appearance ( she never shaved arms or legs and was quite eclectic in her dress), and her hold on Paul. She was blamed for his solo music losing its edge and turning into insipid little snippets of tunes. Fans turned up at his home and wrote horribly insulting things on his wall about Linda. Fans broke into his home and stole Linda's belongings, including her photos and negatives. She was booed onstage during Paul's concert tours. A bootleg of her (off key) voice was isolated from one of the tours and circulated and ridiculed on radio shows. Sadly, this nastyness continued up until 1996-97, when she became very ill and died. After her death, the same fans and press who were so nasty to her during her life, suddenly did an about face and had only good things to say about her. She was changed from the devil to a saint after she died.
It's very sad that so called "fans" identify so much with a celebrity that it affects their behaviour like this.
I had thought that his fans had learned something from this, but unfortunately, after Linda's death, when Paul started dating and married again, most of his fans were very vicious towards his new wife, even before knowing much of anything about her.
Honestly, though, from what I've seen of Taylor's fans, I don't see anything like this happening to him.
The internet does make a huge difference.
By the time Paul married Linda, it was about 1970 and the Beatles were no longer the teen idols of the day, we'd moved on to Bobby Sherman and David Cassidy (or my classmates had, I was into the Woodstock era musicians..)
Paul married Linda in March 1969. The Beatles were still huge, having just released the White Album in Nov 1968, and doing the editing and overdubs for Let It Be and laying down tracks for Abbey Road during the time Paul and Linda married.
I would daresay that Paul didn't lose any fans to the likes of Bobby Sherman or David Cassidy!
We didn't have the internet, but we had our Beatles newsletters and word did have a way of getting around!
Interesting the different perspectives from different ages. I was thinking
about that re Taylor down the road. We'll be the old faithfuls but there
will be new recruits, etc. I imagine there are people that were into him
that moved on to the next Idol (lol but not many). At any rate, I'm
so glad Taylor doesn't have to deal with what Paul did

Taygerl, thanks for the history. I didn't remember people being that upset about Linda.
In 1969 I was in high school, and didn't know anyone that was still fangirly about the Beatles. My group considered ourselves past the fangirly stage, and into bands because they were cool for the music and the psychedelic image. We definitely were into the Beatles -- I remember following the "Paul is Dead" rumors and listening to the LPs backwards -- but we didn't seem to be worried about Linda and Yoko that I recall.
Interesting I find this here today after my bad experience in THHQ chat last evening. I only go to that chat room once a week....twice tops and last night Caroline was being discussed and one person in particular went on and on with rumors and is in COMPLETE denial that Taylor and Caroline are a real couple. She had wild theories about them and I was getting very angry. I tried to give her evidence and a reality check but she wouldn't back down.

Some fans are really living in a deluded state where Taylor is concerned!

:haha: I find that complete denial works for me

:haha:
You're right though, sometimes you read stuff or hear these people and you just want to stuff a sock in their mouths. Especially with the
rumors. Like he doesn't have enough on his plate without adding more
fuel to the fire.

Lucky she's used to celebrity so is maybe more immune to it all than most.

Seger I know who you're talking about. She does that alot and was doin it again later on as well. Sometimes she just gets loopy. It is very annoying though.
