I haven't heard Taylor on the radio AT ALL yet around here-southeastern MA ( thank God for cd's!)! But I've heard lots of Chris(big surprise) and Elliot.
One more station playing Taylor is -
WTSM 93.5 FM Springfield VT
WZID played Heaven Knows at 1:25 am last night. I was not awake to hear it, alas.
Today was a first, I heard Heaven Knows during the daylight (almost) hour of 5:25 am on WZID 95.7.
A nice way to wake up..
I owed the radio a thank you letter for some tickets I won last week, so I fired off a combined ticket/Taylor thank you note to the program director...
I'm bummed. I was driving home from somewhere listening to the radio and got to thinking -How come I never hear Taylor on the radio?! You hear everyone else and some of the same songs they play to death, but never once a Taylor song!
He did win AI after all-doesn't he deserve some airtime!? What is wrong? Is it intentional?
If the casual listener heard some of his singles, they would like them and want to hear more and buy his CD. Grrrrrrrrrrrr!
Sorry to be negative-
but I just had to vent.....
There is no simple answer to your question - there are a lot of factors involved. There have been literally pages and pages of discussions on how radio works and the short answer is - - it ain't pretty - - have learned way more than it is good to know in the last few months.
It is much better to just enjoy Taylor's music and stay in your happy place.
Something you can do to try and help - -
repeated and polite requesting can help in some markets - - it depends on the radio station's program manager - - who the radio station is owned by - - and if they are at all responsive to their listeners.
