Today is Friday, the day the Cape Week special section of the Cape Cod Times comes out. It details all the events of the weekend, stuff to do, etc
I have been anticipating this morning for weeks now. Thought I would unwrap my paper this morning and see Taylor on the front cover of the Cape Week, interviewed in the Spotlight column. Even planned on purchasing a paper just so I could give him the section with him on the front. Thought he would get a kick out of it.....
So I open the paper, grab that Cape Week, and WHAT? Who is that on the cover? NOT Taylor! Local story. It's important to note that last week's cover had Trace Atkins, who played at the Melody Tent last week or weekend; cover shot, two page article detailing his career, struggles, etc.
Quickly I thumb through the Cape Week looking for a crumb, a tid bit, perhaps a mention that Taylor is coming. Finally on page 15, the Best Bets section, I see what I call a "fat, old (AI)" photo of Taylor. I see above his head "SOUL MAN: Taylor Hicks, last year's "American Idol" winner, performs Sunday at Cape Cod Melody Tent in Hyannis" To the right of his butt (in the photo ladies
) it says "Going "Idol" After Musical Journey" in big letters. Encouraged I continue to scan the page, and find in the next column over the following:
"A former "American Idol" winner takes his Taylor-made tunes to Cape Cod Melody Tent when Taylor Hicks rocks the house at 8 p.m. Sunday...." followed by ticket info.
While I am thrilled that Taylor is mentioned in the Best Bets section, considered the premier spot for an event or happening, and that he has managed to span three columns between photo (which shows him eyes closed, open mouth, fist clenched, bent at the waist, clutching microphone
), caption and info, I think he should be on the cover.
I do know from past experiences it is extremely difficult to get things in Cape Cod Times....another story for another day. This is about Taylor, not me
So what do you all think? Am I over reacting? Be honest...I can take it. I admit I'm blind when it comes to Taylor......but aren't we all?
