On the FRONT PAGE of our local weekly newspaper The Register there is a little box for Cape Experience. GUESS WHO's photo is under that caption? Smile "American Idol comes to Melody Tent" is to the left of the photo; an updated head shot...the one we have all seen on CD cover. Imagine my surprise when I picked that paper up this morning and saw those eyes looking out at me Thud

Quickly I flip to page 22....and....it's a FULL PAGE article! Interview done on May 22 by telephone before Taylor did the Idol finale show. He talks about the music, the live audience, and says "You'll have to come to my show. I think that's the fun of seeing someone performing live. You never know what you're going to get." I am so there!!!

This is such a nice surprise.....after the let down I described in the other thread....

I'll look for online link & post if I find Smile
Cool grimsby...save me a copy of that paper!!!

Another great article! I'm glad he is getting some coverage up here.
finally...his PR people with the BIG BUCK (other than us who are just volunteers)...are getting him outhere...and seen..in print and on TV!!! MARKETING 101...you've gotta put it in the window...if you want to sell it...Hello!? (Hi from Florida!)
Here's a thread for any reviews or media mentions we can find about
this weekend's concerts (6/16 & 6/17) Cool

Found this on Boston Globe site-must have been from the day before
the shows...from Gigs Around Town....
TAYLOR HICKS

Simon Cowell couldn’t stand him and now we know why: Hicks is just too earthy for the snarky Brit, who clearly doesn’t understand the value of old school. Now that he’s passed the “Idol” baton, Hicks can get on with his career. Get ready to be dazzled with a high-energy, horn-spiked night-at-the-Apollo feel that, in contrast to his goofy “Idol” performances, puts Hicks in his own element. Tomorrow at South Shore Music Circus, Cohasset, 781-383-9850; Sunday at Cape Cod Melody Tent, Hyannis, 508-775-6630.
I love this! Thanks for sharing. I hope to read more good things about Taylor in concert. He was absolutely amazing! I'm so happy I was able to attend the show in Cohasset. Smile
High-Energy Hicks Rocks Tent

This is a good one!

My favorite quote:

Quote:
Hicks played the band as if it were a single instrument, standing in the center of the revolving stage, using his hands and his body to bring up the keys while quieting the drums, then bringing everybody back up to fever pitch (96 decibels, as measured by tent equipment).

My second favorite quote:

Quote:
"American Idol"'s effort to remake him as a balladeer does Hicks a disservice. He's a kickass country boy who was playing in smoky bars down South long before plucked out of thousands of hopefuls by "American Idol" and becoming leader of The Soul Patrol.

I don't know about her, but I am ready to buy a house in Hicksville!

Nice review! Smile
