Regarding the personalization, I think something like Soul Patrol  would be good. I like the idea of NESP, but that limits him as to when he could use it, and if it said something like Soul Patrol he could use that in any venue, any city, any tour for years to come! What do y'all think?

I agree with Margaux

don't see any problem with NESP being on a stool used everywhere - -
just using Soul Patrol negates the idea that it is a personal gift from us

besides unless someone zooms in on the stool when Taylor isn't sitting on it no one would even notice it anyway - - at least I assume we aren't using neon lime paint or flashing lights -
Amy ? Grimsby ?  Shy

Tricia had a great idea, to have different people coordinate the gifts
for Taylor and the Band for different shows as we have so many coming up. Here's what we've got so far...

Torrington CT  Need gifts for both. Can some people attending do this
one? Doesn't have to be something big as there aren't as many people
going, but we should have NESP represented Huggy

Lincoln RI  The personalized stool for Taylor. Do Amy and Deirdre want to head this up as they're already working on it? Need band idea.

Portland RI  We could use the books I ordered for this one (Buffett,
Guerilla Marketing for Musicians, and a Ray book) but need to add
stuff and something for band. Linda? Peggy? you guys find some cool
stuff in your travels...Highfive

Concord NH  I think Tricia's going to head this one. Cool decorated boxes of goodies for the band, and not sure what yet for Taylor-need ideas. People can contribute goodies from their areas, as long as
they're packaged. (Haha I know that word will send you off topic,
try to focus people Devil)

BigE  We'll do the quilt for Taylor. Everyone that wants to can do a
square and I'll pull it together. Maybe some pillowcases for the band?

I know we're going to need some cash for all this. Do people want to
donate and then their name will go on the card? (Tricia, will you have
time to do cool cards again?) Maybe small donation if only going to
one show and more if going to many?  The best plan would be to set
aside change for RI and gamble and make enough to pay for everything, but we probably need plan B as well Roll Eyes

didn't someone, I think it was emmax, have an idea about a writing journal? that might be able to fit somewhere.

I love all the ideas. No creative ideas come to mind for me, but I can help with what ever is needed, just let me know. If donations are going to be done, you can count me in on that as well Smile

TayFan76 -- yes we were discussing writing journals, which is an excellent idea.
When I was hanging my poster at the large music store in Manchester, I looked to see if they had any nice music manuscript journals, and didn't see any.

I did see that "Do I Make You Proud" was included in a sheet music book of "Top Hits of 2006".
No wheat ale for me!  Almost 10 months sober right now. Grin  (Although, a year ago, that would've sounded wonderful!)

ETA: Well, I meant to quote Amy... *sigh* No posting while exhausted for me!
OK mari - blueberry cream soda it is then! Smile

Wow - do we have some gift sorting out to do!!!  I never dreamed that we would have SO many ideas...we're never short on those!

Oh my GOD!  I have found the most hysterical website if you think FUGLY shirts are funny - I was going to post a couple of the shirts here but I think you have to read the caption under the shirts and see the FUGLY meter on each one.

Here's a place to start: http://1uglyshirt.com/store/Al-p-163.htm...&dsefu=off

Let me know if you prefer any one particular shirt over another.  I will order it and give it to him with the Stool in Rhode Island.

I think I've gotten partial to this one: http://1uglyshirt.com/store/Kenny-p-23.h...&dsefu=off

I'd even be willing to buy one for Bill.
I love how they give them all men's names... there's actually one called Bill!

I can totally see Taylor rocking this one: http://1uglyshirt.com/store/Rusty-p-34.h...&dsefu=off
Ha...so you liked Rusty too. I had a moment of picturing Taylor in that one...it's definitely got potential!
the leather music journals are beautiful...

should we find out first if he even knows how to write music that way? the plain paper might be more useful, for writing lyrics etc. He may do music with the Mac....
Here's a page from Amazon with musician's journals,etc.

http://www.amazon.com/Musicians-Notebook...0762403691

I LOVE the leather ones, but they may be too expensive with all the
other stuff we're trying to do...

MaryBeth, if you can head up this project and volunteer to get it
to him that's awesome! Woohoo I think there's a smaller group going to CT show (but you guys can recruit for NESP while you're thereHuggy)

I think the journal combined with maybe the marketing book I ordered
might work well together.

Amy, the fugly shirts are too funny! Would be great with the stool.
I liked your idea of Modern Whomp for the stool (the first idea you
had). Could we do "NESP loves Modern Whomp" or something?
I agree, Soul Patrol is too generic...

Margaux,
I was thinking the same thing - there are software programs from just for fun to professional composer level
but a nice journal for lyrics and idea exploration would give him a lot of options - -

Liz  - - and Amy - -  like this idea
saw a piece just a little while ago where Taylor refers to it as  American Whomp - -  whaaa ? ? ?
maybe he's reinventing it - LOL

the lettering is going around the edge of the seat - is that right ?   what if this was spaced out around it  ?  if need more to make it look right could spell out NESP

NESP loves Whomp - blues - soul - funk - classic rock - jazz - -

rats -  think there is one more style he tosses in too  - and don't think it is swamp even though according to the early discussons of the term's origins it is part of the derivitive of Whomp  - -
anybody remember the whole list he rattles off ? ? is country in there ? ?
oh well  - - can do our homework to make sure we have it right if anyone even likes the concept

ETA:  would we want to include Taylor's name if use the music list design ? ? ? ?
