How about a Bocce ball set for the band for RI?

http://www.sportsauthority.com/product/i...age=family
Would they use it?
I was at a cookout the other day and the guys were having a great
time with the game. I'm thinking they have time to kill and you can
take them out anywhere, and wouldn't take up much room on bus...

I found an inflatable limbo pole and a fun Luau CD that could go in
the bus party kit Woohoo
That shirt is so fugly that it's actually kinda cute!

I like New England Soul Patrol Heart Modern Whomp on seat
with styles of music around the edge, but anything will be cool Cool

hmmm - - - - Roll Eyes

not crazy about the Heart  doesn't it seem like kind of "girl thing" for a guy's guy like Taylor ? ? ?

also - -  shouldn't Modern Whomp be included with the other music genres ? it seems like he wants it to become a style he is known for - - so wouldn't putting it with the others be saying it already has validity as a genre with us ??   just a thought

we need to make sure we have all the list that Taylor rattles off - it isn't always exactly the same I don't think  - big surprise Tongue - - but this probably includes everything he's ever mentioned - -

Whomp - blues - soul - funk - jazz - Cajun - swamp - classic rock - county  (?)  - calypso (?)

re:  calypso - think of HOTYL and some of his regular tags
re: country - has made it known he likes country music  and some of his music has definite influences - a couple on UTR come to mind - - just seems like  a really influencial genre to just ignore (and that's coming from someone who is not big on counrty music Wink )

notice I didn't suggest alt rock and pop - Devil

I am of the opinion that the influence New Wave has had on Taylor gets short shrift much too often. innocent

Haha
Mari - - - Grin
but you sent me down another rabbit hole - - no wonder I can't get anything done - need to disconnect my work computer from the internet  Tongue

this was what sent me hunting - - -
was pretty sure Blondie was part of New Wave and Taylor tags her " The Tide is High"

- - -  so got curious - - - the Tom Petty bit made me chuckle - - honest positioning or smart marketing ? ? ? Wink

Quote:
Music that followed the anarchic garage band ethos of the Sex Pistols was distinguished as "punk", while music that tended toward experimentation, lyrical complexity, or more polished production, was categorised as "New Wave". This came to include musicians who had come to prominence in the British pub rock scene of the mid-1970s, such as Ian Dury, Nick Lowe, Eddie and the Hot Rods and Dr Feelgood; [3] acts associated with the New York club CBGBs, such as Television, Patti Smith, and Blondie; and singer-songwriters who were noted for their barbed lyrical wit, such as Elvis Costello, Tom Robinson and Joe Jackson. Furthermore, many artists who would have originally been classified as punk were also termed New Wave. A 1977 Phonogram compilation album of the same name features US artists including the Dead Boys, the Ramones, Talking Heads and the Runaways.[1]

Later still, "New Wave" came to imply a less noisy, more pop sound, and to include acts manufactured by record labels,[citation needed] while the term “post-punk” was coined to describe the darker, less pop-influenced groups, as Siouxsie & the Banshees, considered one of the first post-punk bands.[citation needed] Although distinct, punk, New Wave, and post-punk all shared common ground: an energetic reaction to the supposedly overproduced, uninspired popular music of the 1970s.

Tom Petty (probably in jest) has taken credit for "inventing" New Wave. He has been quoted as saying that journalists struggled to define his band, The Heartbreakers, recognizing they were not punk rock, but still wanting to identify them with Elvis Costello and the Sex Pistols. He also suggests — again, probably half-jokingly — that the song When the Time Comes from the You’re Gonna Get It! album (1978) "might have started New Wave. Maybe that was the one."

Linda, the Heart probably is too "girly"....better for it to look "cool"
except I had no cool ideas Roll Eyes

How about these for the band for RI? They could say Modern Whomp
Summer Tour (or any two lines up to 15 letters each) Cheap, but
personal....

I love Oriental Trading. Honestly, I think you can find something for anyone there. Those would be great Liz!

Whomp - blues - soul - funk - jazz - Cajun - swamp - rock - country - calypso

This seems like a lot of 'stuff' to get on a little stool seat...

Am wondering if we shouldn't just stick to New England Soul Patrol around the edge and Modern Whomp for the top.

If we get too creative, it could get pricey, I would think...
I'll order the koozies tonight if people agree. Open to suggestions
on the wording, but can go with what we've got if okay with all Huggy
