This is a very nice positive article. Well-worth the read. He will be performing in Norfolk, VA tomorrow night.

Definitely qualifies as one of the best articles on Taylor - - thank you for posting it here.

There seems to be a subtle shift in the media coverage lately - -  perhaps the "sharks" - with their deeply intellectual questions about hair color and fixation on pop culture crap instead of musical talent - have moved on and we are starting to hear more from actual journalists who do their homework and therefore get meaningful responses from Taylor.

Not sure why it is happening now - end of AI spotlight ? - maybe The Firm has upped their PR game ? - but it is certainly welcomed and about freaking time ! ! !

these two things stood out for me - -

Quote:
"This is a journey. For me, this isn't the end. This is just the beginning. This is also the beginning of me learning how to become a recording artist and learning about production value and when to use it and when not to use it."

Speaking of his current CD, Taylor said,

"I never lost my musical integrity on it. This next album, you know, I'll have five months. This was cut in five weeks."

I love Taylor's live concerts and wish I didn't live in the woods at the end of the earth so I could make it to even more of them
but I also enjoy the relative serenity of his albums - all of them  [ yes, even DIMYP ] - and think he has always put his musical integrity first - - while there are some songs that always seem to fit the day's playlist , I like that there is a variety of styles / moods to chose from

I definitely hope his next album is less "produced" - - and his comment seems to indicate the Toys may be used more judiciously in the future - - am hoping for it to be more like his live music - - tight and loose as a concert performance was once described on GC - - know it sounds like a contradiction -  until you experience your first live performance and then it makes perfect sense   Wink

and I hope it still has the variety he seems to do so effortlessly - - IMHO it is one of the things that makes Taylor unique - - along with his passion for the music and "that voice "  - -

ETA: thinking of the two young men [mid to late 20s] standing behind me in Boston I have posted about before - - they had come just because they were Avalon regulars - - they both loved what they heard and one of them made a point of telling me how blown away he was by the variety of music Taylor did and did really well - not something they are used to with the people they usually see - - Perfect ! !
