Okay, I'm kinda taking this over for a moment.  Trishie is swamped.  I'm deathly ill (when J.K. Rowling wrote about the Deathly Hallows, she was looking into my eyes...).  But here we go.

Pretty much in the RI gift thread we decided on getting gourmet or regional goodies for the boys and putting them in a nice manly gift box of some kind.  So tonight I went seeking boxes.

Of course, the first place my mind goes is http://www.ikea-usa.com.  Of course.  I am an IKEA whore.  But I think I might have hit something good!



This is the Skrin box.  It is 15-3/8" wide x 11" deep x 10-1/4" high (7 gallons).  It is galvanized steel, with a lid.  Oooooh, manly!  It has large panels that we can decorate/personalize/stick our logo on if we want.  And it has handles, so we can haul it around easily.

So, what y'all think?

Oh yeah, it is $15 and I can pick one up in New Haven no problem, next time I go to visit my friend and her baby.

way! We have books and DVD/book set for Taylor for that one so we
may not need a separate box for him...I have the Ray Charles book,
and I think we okayed the cool John Lennon project book/DVD that
Margaux found...is that ordered yet? Any word from Music School
yet?

This box is so huge I think we can fit a lot of stuff in it! But...

If we do want to do one box for the guys and one for Taylor, and since he's getting a DVD, there are some nice manly DVD boxes at IKEA, too. No galvanized steel, but I believe some kind of metal!

Does anyone have any ideas/preferences for decorating the steel box?

Concord Music School has not answered my email.
If I find a good coupon this weekend, I'll pick up the John Lennon Bus book on my travels.

Hi everyone! Quick update/reminder...

I am going to IKEA tomorrow to get the boxes -- I'm getting 2 and then we can put Tay's books and whatnot in one if we want, or just give 'em all a whole lot of goodies. Tricia and I will decorate when we get together in a couple weeks. That's right -- taking time out of our precious, too-short weekend together to decorate boxes for Taylor and the band. They better be grateful...

There is less than a month left, so if you are contributing to the gourmet goodies/regional delights for the band, please be thinking about what you're going to get. It will be hot, I'm sure, so please make sure that whatever you get is not going to go bad or melt all over the place! As usual, we'll do assembly at the pre-party and you'll all have a chance to check out the awesome boxes.
