I just watched Taylor's appearance on The View. I thought it was really great because View co-host, Sherri Shephard, definitely read his book and knew all about him. She said she is a big Taylor Hicks fan and appeared extremely excited to have him there. It was really cute.

He talked about "taking" his friend's Otis Redding album when he was younger and said he still has it and has to give it back to him. Grin

He sang The Right Place and Loren was on camera accompanying him on the piano! Taylor sounded great and looked awesome. Thud

Hi Karen!
I watched Taylor too and I thought it was one of his best interviews and performances on TV. I liked him singing "The Right Place" with just he and Loren on the piano because you could really hear his voice and all the great things he can do with it. I also liked how he looked right at the camera (Of course, he was looking at each of us Wink I thought it was a great, relaxed interview. Very enjoyable! I taped it and will have to watch it a few more times - in case I am tested on it or something! Rotfl

I hate work. Hopefully someone will bring the video over here! Huggy
The Right Place with just Loren on piano - and nailed it - yes ! ! !

Finally the song that
> should have been the one he was doing on these types of shows all along - - almost cried when he missed the opportunity to do it on Martha's show - talk about the perfect demographic for that song - arrrgh
> and should have been the single - - let him be who he is - this style  was what was expected and not doing it was a source of some of the criticism
> and has the huge marketing connection to Ray Charles and the great support given Taylor by Ray's people - - that is a big deal ! !

Have been using the RC connection to "sell" Taylor with non-AI people ever since the studio visit film from People became available - - even casual music fans know who RC was - - never understood why that virtual endorsement hasn't been utilized more - - so Yayyyyyyyyyy ! ! ! !
He shouted "Soul Patrol" when he came out!

You could tell the audience was full of his fans and he knew it.Huggy
I am hating work more every day!!! I need to get home to my DVR!
Sounds like a great interview and since I don't have DVR or TiVo I'll just have to wait until it appears on youtube, lol. Why is work such a necessity? Haha

I agree that this was the best TV performance Taylor has ever given and the interview went really well ( John Gibson's interview was also excellent last evening ).  However, I wish he would NOT look at the audience when he sings "The Right Place".... wish he would envelope himself in the song and not be concerned with the audience.  I know he has to relate to TV land, but it is so much more meaningful when he goes into that special place by himself.
agree mouser - - needs to switch to concert mode when singing but  this performance was different than his other TV ones - really put himself out there without a safety net - -  so maybe understandably a tad nervous ?
looked so cute though and the vocals were superb ! !
Just a few more minutes until I get home! Then I can join this discussion...

Luckily I recorded the west coast feed and not the east - my sister said the NY feed was interrupted midway through the interview because of bad weather announcements.
