The Rhode Island Food Bank has been chosen as the charity for the August 11 show at Twin Rivers in Lincoln, Rhode Island; specifically the Kids Cafe program, which serves evening meals to 1,350 children at 13 sites. The Kids Cafe program supplements the federal school breakfast & lunch programs, and accepts monetary donations only, which enables them to purchase products in bulk increasing their purchasing power.

The Rhode Island Food Bank relies on public support from individuals, corporations, foundations & special events to carry out their programs. $1 donation enough food can be distributed for three healthy meals.

Donations of food items will go directly into the community.

Many of us are traveling to Rhode Island so it may not be convenient to carry boxed or canned goods to the venue to donate to the food drive. We have come up with a wonderful solution!

The New England Soul Patrol is having a Virtual Food Drive! What is a Virtual Food Drive?  We are able to "shop" online for the Rhode Island Food Bank! We have our own link, just for NESP!

When you go to the shopping cart you "click" on the product or monetary donation. Remember the monetary donation goes to Kids Cafe, and the products go into the community. At the "checkout" you will be able to put your tax deductible donation on your credit card.

The New England Soul Patrol link is: http://vad.aidmatrix.org/vadxml.cfm?driveid=2181

For those coming to the RI show wishing to bring food product the following are the most needed:

Canned Soup
Tuna
Peanut Butter
Nuts
Canned Fruits & Vegetables
Canned Juices
Tomato Sauce
Whole Wheat Pasta
Brown Rice
boxed Macaroni & Cheese
Crackers
Granola Bars
Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Cash donations for the Kids Cafe will also be taken at the RI venue.

Thank you all for your support of the Rhode Island Food Bank.
Okayyy - have skimmed the area in case you had embedded the link in the wording but am guessing it is missing ? ?
I don't think it's been put up as of yet - will be there soon.
Link is up now!
this is so cool!
Deirdre and Tricia, Thanks for getting this all set up. HeartThe virtual
shopping is very cool. You can buy your food items, or do a
donation at bottom of list. It tells you how many meals your donation
provides which is pretty amazing given that I wasn't able to do a very
large donation, but it still added up to a lot of meals.Woohoo Let's
try to get some nice donations so we can do a excellent write up
for Taylor to put in the gift package for Lincoln!!
This is great - I'm going to try and get this posted over on some other sites, too.
This Virtual Foodbank is Such a neat idea - - just emailed the information on this project and The Aidmatrix Foundation to our local United Way Executive Director - - she tries to coordinate the efforts of related local charities like foodbanks, etc. - -
Liz - I agree - seeing how many meals you provided is a nice touch
Thanks grimsby and Tricia
Has anyone posted this on other sites as yet?
Can we post that info here so I can have an idea how many sites are partricipating in this?

Thanks to everyone who has donated so far, and is planning to donate either virutally or at the venue.
Huggy
